Good deal (+1) for a new Fender guitar. Nowadays, the most-common best deal on a new Fender (telecaster or stratocaster) is $529 from Adorama. I have played a Fender Lead II at a Guitar Center and liked it. It felt most like a stratocaster, but the Lead II is a hardtail (no tremolo) and it had two single coil pickups instead of three. I suppose in terms of pickups it's more like a tele. It's a cross between the two, but I remember it weighing less than either -- a quick internet search shows that these usually weight around 7 pounds (often less / uncommonly more). I have no idea what's its price will do in the aftermarket -- but people generally don't search Reverb.com for Fender Leads -- they tend to look for strats, teles, and jazzmasters -- jaguars sometimes too -- so the aftermarket price is unlikely to go higher any time soon. That is, I would not buy it as an investment -- I'd buy it to have an inexpensive Fender to play.
Just one peculiar thing I noticed at ProAudiostar --- these new Player Lead II's are priced less expensive than their used (mint condition) ones.
As of June 1, 2024, this deal is back 99 cents more expensive --> $484.99
June 3rd, 2024: (a Monday) -- dead again. Proaudiostar corresponded with me and said it was a weekend sale.
June 7th, 2024: (Friday) -- alive again... presumably for the weekend.
