First, it's loud enough to wake the dead. So don't get one of these if you live next to a cemetary.
Second, it's absolutely imperative that the top of your ice cream mixture is completely level before you begin. If you stick your mix in the freezer, it will freeze with a hump in it. No bueno. Some people freeze for the first hour with the lid off to prevent this. I prefer to let the mix thaw for 15 minutes (ignore the part in the manual that says to process immediately after taking it out of the freezer) and then level the top with the back of a spoon. If you fail to level, the blade might pop off. There's a video of a guy on YouTube who claims that their Creami caught on fire because the blade was dancing around the spindle. Shooting sparks maybe. Catching fire I kind of doubt.
Oh, and also. Be sure to use the right setting. I find that the (longer running) lite ice cream is the right setting for me most of the time since I use whole milk instead of heavy whipping cream, so I have a higher water/ice content. And finally, respin is your friend. I usually go straight to respin (after running the lite program, of course) even without checking the consistency, because I already know it's going to need it. GL. And enjoy your new Creami.

We bought many extra and usually have 16-20 jars in the freezer on rotation for both the NC301 ("regular" 7-in-1) and NC501 (deluxe) since we use the machine(s) practically daily from March through December and at least weekly during January and February.

Of course, it all depends on where you live. When you live in the cold north, it's probably not worth the buy. In the Deep South were temps have been in the mid 90s with high humidity, ice cream is a welcomed cool down treat when being outside for part of the day.
But a lot of people use the ninja to make "ice cream" that is essentially whey protein and almond milk. I'm skeptical you'd get good results with a kitchenaid using those ingredients.

We also make a bunch of ice cream/frozen yogurt. 1/3 Milk, 1/3 heavy cream, 1/3 greek yogurt. Add in whatever flavors you like, reducing the milk if your add-in has liquid (like berries). Buttermilk gives a super nice cheesecake type flavor. We also use pudding sometimes as a flavor enhancer, last night was butterscotch chocolate chip.
I can't say how this compares with other ice cream makers, but if you like to tinker and experiment, this thing is a hoot. Once you figure out a base mixture you like, the skies the limit. One of our favorites is Chocolate Chile, with lots of cocoa powder, a bit of cinnamon, and just enough chile powder to give it a kick. We almost always have a frozen cup ready to be spun up at a moments notice.
