You might wish to add "Members Only". Yes, good price, but not a member. Repped.

How is the build quality on these? Specifically, does the hinge have reliability issues?

Does the 3 in 7730 mean it's zen 2 architecture? 8 core? So it's a 12/13 gen intel equivalent?

Why put 2 number pads?

If this only had touchscreen or at least backlit keyboard sigh

Reviews seem pretty mixed. Also, Asus support has been getting an incredible amount of negative reviews the last few months...

One review is for missing shipment (does not mean that product is bad) another review is for missing fingerprint sensor (this specific version doesn't have one).

The 3 could mean Zen 3 or Zen 3+. In this case it is Zen 3.

I believe the 30 series is the last to use DDR4, with 35, 40, and 45 moving to DDR5.

There was a review from a huge YTer that tried to RMA an Asus Ally and got the run around from their warranty department.

Yeah that's not something that gets fixed by retraining that is a systematic issue that's coming from the top. I think I'm good

It only has one number pad. The trackpad is oled and has a spot where a long press will toggle from trackpad to number pad.

Look at the overhead view and you will see there is no number pad in the keyboard.

The lack of a backlit keyboard is a deal breaker for me.

Touch screens are not in fashion anymore. I think we will only see them in 2-in-1 models and higher end models.

No, I don't think so. Expandability isn't a feature at this price point.

It is important to note that while Costco has a 2-year warranty, it only covers the manufacturer's warranty. Which for laptops, notably does NOT cover screen issues. If you want coverage for a cracked screen, you need to get the Allstate (formerly Square Trade) extended warranty for additional cost.

I've had 2 Asus Vivobooks (the 2-in-1 OLED Flip model ~$1300) come up cracked screens within a year now. Can't tell if it is an engineering problem in the hinges or the touchscreen or the OLED panel that simply doesn't hold up to normal use. The warranty service couldn't replace the OLED touchscreen, so Allstate made good on the warranty and issued a full refund (since manufacturers create new models every year, they don't bother trying to get an exact replacement).

Backup / image your SSD/drive and do a clean reset of Windows to clear all your personal info (change your password and give that to the warranty service when you send it in).

P.S. Not getting a third Asus. Will look at Lenovo for the next 2-in-1 (for college student use).

Won't touch an HP after they refused to fix an overheating problem, blamed nVidia, sued, pocketed the settlement money, claimed voided warranties, replaced defective design motherboards with the same defective design motherboards, and then pushed a BIOS update that simply turned the fans on full blast all the time to keep them working long enough to get past the warranty, and wear out the fans instead of fixing the problem of a bad heat management design.
