Low price but 12.4 mph is going to feel slow as hell for anyone over 10 years old.

I'm OK with that, as im shopping for a 10 year old. Just more concerned about the height than anything. My hope would be an adult version may be a little more durable.

Most foot and bike paths in cities are limited to 10mph. 12mph is fine for cruising - not everybody is in a hurry and speed should not be an indication of age or maturity.

Most mixed use paths are 20 mph speed limit unless specifically posted otherwise. You really think most people on bikes in the city (or anywhere) are going under 10mph?

12.4 mph is the speed limit, in best conditions, on a flat surface. I've owned multiple segway scooters. If it doesn't feel slow to you, I'd say you are in the minority. No offense meant by that. Just trying to inform people.

It used to be 2 models on that page and I think the other version for $200 sold out so it's only displaying the other.

Yup, changed for everyone.

I have experience with various electric scooters. IMO they all break down or physically break in 1-3 years. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend that anyone buying a scooter, get it from Walmart and get a 4 year extended warranty. On Amazon, the warranty only seems to go up to 2 years, and I don't know if it can be trusted.

I've already had one scooter break after a winter of not charging, and the warranty paid up to cover most of the cost of the scooter. I described the problem accurately and honestly. Bought it at Walmart and the warranty was via AllState, I think.

Right now I'm looking into Emove scooters after running into a guy who had one and said it's been working well for 5 years. Supposedly it can go 25 mph but I think it needs to be unlocked as it comes "stock" with 20 mph capability. Supposedly it's very easy to do.

Unfortunately for one I checked just now, people reported various problems and being sent the necessary parts to fix it, but I don't want to experience that kind of hassle.

Ideally I want the most reliable, high quality scooter that can go 22-25 mph and get 20+ miles of actual range. I also want solid tires. I don't mind the rough ride. Gloves and other padding can help with that.

Thanks, I know nothing about them, but kinda tired of $11 trips from Uber for 2 miles. Funny you mention Wal-Mart, as I was looking at this one from another post that I thought might be as good as this one posted here.

In NYC the speed limit for electric scooters is 15 mph, but I do not think it's enforced. These days most scooters cannot be shipped to NYC via Amazon. (along with various other items)

Desired speed really depends on each individual person's preference. For optimal safety it's best not to exceed 10-12 mph but I get bored easily at those speeds.

Nice, you're on the right "track." I highly recommend against pneumatic tires as long as you don't mind a rough ride and feeling bumps. Otherwise you will likely get a flat at some point, and it will likely be on the rear tire which is a pain (or impossible?) to fix. GoTrax was the brand that failed me, but only after I did not charge it during the winter. Otherwise the scooter was fine. It had solid tires.

Whatever you decide, get the 4 year warranty!

I have this 5TH WHEEL scooter. It has turn signals. It goes 18-19 mph.
Actual range for a 200 lbs person is 10-15 miles:

EDIT: This scooter has rear suspension, very rare for a $250 scooter.

Click $150 off coupon. $250 for a scooter with these specs is currently the lowest price I'm seeing. Don't forget the 4 year warranty!

This cannot be shipped to NYC.

Also I highly recommend NEVER folding any scooter, ever.
Find a way to use it without ever folding it, or don't buy it, imo.

Many problems result from folding, including the scooter folding while riding!

Thanks for both comments ! You are like the wizard of scooters. Oddly enough, when I was looking at this one, I was actually reading your old post of this one and all the comments. even though its expired, it has alot of info. I will look at the other you just posted ( in this thread ) and make a decision.
Cheers !
