Just tested it: turned the light on with button, turned the light off by toggling off my power strip, and then the light turned back on when I toggled on the power strip (without hitting the power button for the light again). So it would appear to work with a smart plug.

Does this turn on when you plug it in or you have to use remote? I'm asking because if it requires remote, you can't hook it up to smart outlet.

One downside I noticed in the reviews: no replacement LED. Once it dies, it is dead.

ordered one 2 days ago and put it together yesterday, decent light for $20. so I ordered a second one. they make great reading lights. there are 3 light tones and 5 brightness levels.

Edit: Received it today. Plugged it in before I even assembled it and it was very much not 95+ CRI. Not really surprised, and is getting returned.

It is brighter than I expected. I have it over my desk but usually turn it up and towards the wall on full light. Great deal at the sale price. Also with how it assembles it would be easy to DIY a clamp in place of the base.
