Is this $150.00 better than the $99.00 Husky one that is always on sale? Serious/genuine question by the way.

On those $99 sets half of the tools are ¼ size bits and they got way less cobination wrenches and deep sockets. If you dont need those things and dont care about quality save your money and buy the $99 set.

I have that Husky set. It doesn't have a single deep socket, can't even service a 2-stroke engine with it (i.e. remove a spark plug). It's definitely useful around the house for almost anything, but is lacking when it actually comes to anything mechanical.

I'll probably pick up a set like the one OP posted to actually keep in the garage for mechanic work, and the husky relegated to my indoor "hobby" needs

Is this the version that project farm recommended or the one that goes on sale at home depot for $199?

I pulled up the PF video and this is the link in the description: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...s_li_ss_tl
It's very similar.

This doesn't seem particularly slick, it's only $20 less than Home Depot's current price.

The Project Farm video [youtube.com] referred to a more expensive 243pc tool set (SKU# 80966)
There are two different 243pc sets.
(80966) All 6 point sockets & end wrenches
(80972) All 12 point sockets & end wrenches

The other sets have a combination of 6 & 12 point tools.

The 232pc sets are notable for including more expensive ratcheting combination wrenches rather than basic end wrenches at the cost of excluding 1/2" drive sockets, ratchets & extensions.

All the other sets are very complete with pretty much no skips. They just have different amounts of overlap and the differences are mostly in where that overlap takes place.

I would say the set PF chose is one of the best both as a starter set of tools that can be built on or as a kit to keep in a vehicle. Each kit contains both some tools that the others do not, but also some that are more premium versions.

Here are all the sets at Gearwrench [gearwrench.com]

Gearwrench's own documentation on these sets is lacking. You can painstaking figure out which have what sockets & wrenches. While other stuff like the bits and allen wrenches are neither documented nor worth worrying about.
