At least ill be able to buy some walmart gift cards on walmart.com. That way i can use them when i need to rather then during those 3 months. Walmart gift cards come in Handy during Black friday and also can be used at Sams Club
Somehow I find my Amex to be useless. They don't have any good deals. Most of the merchant offers they usually have is from boutique stores we never shop from. Their points back are slim as well. Only reason I keep the Amex card is because of their paid $25 car rental insurance. It's an excellent insurance to buy when renting a car.

Has discover added the ability to show the percentage earned on each purchase yet? I haven't used my discover card in so long because my other cards have that feature and I don't have to pull out a calculator to double check the cashback I got.

$1500 HYSA assuming at 5% will earn $75 before income taxes for the first year. Since you're talking about tie up money in 3 months , $75/4 = $18.75. after federal/state taxes , you're looking at a delta of $15........
Yes, and?

If I'm going to be spending that $1500 regardless, at some point between the beginning of July and the end of Sept, better to spend it as late as possible.

I didn't say it was going to make me rich, but I'd rather have 15 extra dollars than NOT have 15 extra dollars, wouldn't you?

If not, can I have $15 :-)

Yup! In the app, you can select a transaction and it'll show you the cash back earned for that transaction (assuming web is similar, but I primarily use the app, so I can't say for certain).

does their rental car ins cover "hit and run"? their ins isn't that easy to use if things happened. yeah, we pay a lot more at Enterprise for extra ins. but you can basically walk in and out with a brand new car at any Enterprise office across the nation. no questions asked. with this amex $25, you will have to file the paperwork and wait for their approval for any reimbursement.

I don't know the coverage details. But I've had an incident in the past. Enterprise called me a few days after my rental saying there was damage to the undercarriage. There was no accident of any sort during my rental, and I had no idea where it came from. I had pictures of the car when I left it, but they said it was under the car — which seemed preposterous to me. It could have been any previous renter.

Anyway, luckily I had the Amex insurance. I just called the Amex line, gave them the info and that was it. They handled everything. I didn't have to file anything or fill any forms. They dealt with Enterprise directly. I didn't have to pay a penny, and it was all very trouble-free for me.

If you take insurance directly from Enterprise, it's indeed worrying-free but it's $12 a day. After two days you break even with the Amex insurance, which covers you for 30-days. For any rental over two days I always take the Amex insurance. Of course, I don't know the ins and outs of various coverages. This was a decade ago so things might have changed, but my one interaction with them has been as pleasant as it could have been.

thanks. for a van, Enterprise charged $35 a day.

heres the scenario, if you hit or damanage a car, even at your own fault, you can stop by any Enterprise office anywhere in there Nation, exchange for a brand new car and drive away. no question asked. if its on amex $25 and the same thing happened. you will need to contact amex, file a paperwork, get another car rental agreement somewhere to get a new car replacement so you can get on with your trip. pay everything out of pocket for now. and wait for them to verify later.

the same thing is for Costco zurich rental ins as well, but they are not very clear on "hit and run" cases.

I looked in the app and can't find the amount earned - just transaction date, posted date, purchase method, purchased by, and category. Where are you clicking?

You are looking in the right place. Cashback earned will be last line. It may take a few days to show up there. If it doesn't then the transaction did not earn bonus.
For example(see attached pic.), my Walmart e-gift card purchase on July 1 did not show cashback till today.

I was very closed to cutting this card. I decided to call and ask for a retention offer and they boosted my 1% to 3% and added an additional 2% to the QT category(5% + 2%=7%). Thanks Reddit!

It was a 3 minute call

By 1% do you mean the 1% for everything? You boosted it to 3%?

What you buy from enterprise isn't insurance. It's a "damage waiver" where they agree not to go after you for money, so it makes sense there is no extra paperwork involved.

we all know what that "waiver" is. no need to lecture us. its still a lot better than buying some other 3rd party coverage. enterprise let you in and out no question asked.

the only 2 that are pretty close to the enterprise coverage is Costco zurich and amex "premium" $20 per rental. but they are not clear or clean as what enterprise claims.

in the end. we all care for how much we are responsible to pay for any accident involved. not the paperwork or process in between.

LOL there was no lecture here. Just a statement of fact.

BTW I would suggest Chase in case you don't want to deal with reimbursement. They both talk to each other and you don't have to pay a penny out of pocket. It's clean AF.
