Also the zoom isn't variable. It's either 100mm or 400mm.

probably not, reviews say it needs good daylight.

The aperture is f5.6 to f6.3 so it's going to struggle in low light. Sounds like this is more for outdoor/nature stuff

Reviews [dpreview.com] had typically complained about the original MSRP, so nice to see this product reaching a more compelling price point from the manufacturer.

If you don't need a 2X and 8X optical zoom with autofocus and image stabilization (but lacking ruggedization) then this product isn't for you. If those things interest you and you don't already have something like a Samsung Galaxy Ultra, then this could be a fun $100 buy.

Good luck!

To be fair, continuous zoom is also rare in smartphones (with Sony predictably having the exception [techradar.com]).

Good luck!

I have on from the last sale at $129. Fun to carry when traveling, as a complement to smartphone. Don't expect it do be at any actual camera alternative though, even at APS-C size.

This does not have an APS-C sized sensor.

This seems cool but I just can't come up with a use case for me to purchase. The only thing I can really come up with would be golf or shooting rifles at a range.

New camera price is too high. Refurbished for $100? I can try. Ordered.
