FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.
I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…
TLDR; read, and follow instructions.
You probably missed it, but you can indeed get your device back if they lowball your offer.

250 off pixel 8 pro is for both a Google fi plan and a phone not on a plan, plus a trade in opportunity (Google's trade ins usually suck apart from when a new phone launches and there are often some good deals)

Not sure if it's worth the upgrade. To each of his own of course, but I am leaning towards no, even with the $200 Mint Mobile Pixel 7 Pro that I got last December.
