FYI - they outsource trade-ins to another company. You get the trade-in box in a separate shipment.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.

I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…

TLDR; read, and follow instructions.

There is a checkbox that's automatically checked that states "Accept the new value if it changes after inspection (uncheck to get your device back without credit)"

You probably missed it, but you can indeed get your device back if they lowball your offer.

For anyone that qualifies, you can get an extra 10% off through id.me if you work for the govt or other qualifying service sectors. It stacks with this trade in and discount promo.

I've traded in my old Pixel phones a couple of times to the Google store with no problems. The trade in values are always changing, but they are usually very good when a new Pixel model is coming out and they want to clear out their old models and/or boost sales on their new model pre-orders.

I wanted to upgrade my Pixel 7 pro AND get my mom a new one (shes on the 5a).

If your the same as me there are some silly combos going on here.

1) 250$ off (pixel 8 pro)
2) 500$ trade in boost (pixel 7 pro)
3) 250$ off pixel 8a, if you buy pixel 8 pro.
4) 50$ store credit on the 8a
5) 10% back in store credit from Google One
6) 10% back back for ID.me if your (teacher/police/firefighter/etc)
**Also get the 6th months Google One&Fitbit Premium + 3 months Youtube Premium with new Phones.

All together I get a new Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a for 348.70 + 123.16 store credit. Not bad! Smilie

I had 140$ store credit from getting 3 pixel tablets a few weeks ago, so all together, with my 7pro trade in, I can convince my deal brain that i got 3 pixel tablets, a Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a, all for 3 used ipad6's and 85$ bucks Big Grin

Nah, I got Pixel 7 for the little bit more than $100 prev.gen deal without Google Fi subscription with Pixel 4XL trade-in and "Google One" just for 2 months.
Wish if will be the same , but not so sweet now.

Every pixel upgrade I've done has cost me no more than $150 out of pocket after various trade in deals and / or selling my old phone. P1 -> 3A -> 6A -> 7-> 7 pro. In some cases (like the mint mobile 7 pro deal) after selling my last phone I actually made money. I'm going to wait and see how desperate google gets. The 7 pro is definitely the best phone I've ever had, but the leap to 8 pro just doesn't seem worth the trouble / cost.

pixel 7 pro has curved screen, unable to install screen protector.
Do you think google will care about screen scratches?
they won't. I confirmed this with the Google store in NYC (you can trade in, in person, instead of shipping it if you ever visit NYC). They don't even care if the back glass is shattered - as long as the front screen is free of cracks or heavy scratch damage, then you're good.

These trade in deals are always a little risky. I've done many for cheaply valued trade in phones but trading in my Pro 7 is iffy.

I don't think the 6a ever peaked above $190 trade in value. They were trying to sell new 6a's last year for $250 (and on rare occasions, $230 if you coupon stacked)

Can the back glasss be cracked?
yes. I've traded in a 4XL with shattered holes (literal huge missing pieces of glass) and they still gave in full phone value because the front screen was intact. However, I've only done this at the google store in NYC so they could appraise my phone's value on-site. I'm not too sure if the mail-in system would honor something similar - they SHOULD but some of us haven't been so lucky with these 3rd party vendors.
