FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.
I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…
TLDR; read, and follow instructions.

I'm hoping once the Pixel 9 is out that the 8 will drop in price to make a trade-in even sweeter, but I'm not sure how much better the trade in deals will get.

The deals will always get better as the phone gets older. But this is a pretty solid deal for right now. The value of your 6pro will only go down.
