I've had both. 2 main differences:

1) On course usability: Arccos picks up your shots automatically. Golf Pad tags uses NFC and requires you to scan your tag after each shot. I've hit shots and then forgotten to scan my tag (especially when you're frustrated). Arccos isn't perfect and doesn't pickup EVERYTHING but it's pretty good. Arccos wins in that regard.

2) Price: Both services require an annual subscription. Arccos costs $159 a year. GolfPad tags cost $30 a year. GolfPad tags wins on price.

Both apps do a good job of visually displaying your round and showing you stats. One perk for GolfPad has is that you can share a REAL TIME link with your buddies while you're playing. They can see a shot by shot review from a birds eye view (think google maps) and follow along with your round. Arccos has the birds eye shot review too but it's not real time. You can only review it after the round is over.

They both have accompanying apple watch apps so you can see gps distances to the pin and distance of your last shot without pulling out your phone. The main drawback for Arccos is that it detects an extra "shot" whenever i fling my club into a tree after a shank.

Overall, Arccos wins for me just for the ease of use but GolfPad is a good option. Either way, you should definitely use at least one of them to improve your game.

After reading some of the recent reviews, it seems to be lacking esp. in the connectivity department where certain shots didn't record correctly. There also seems to be QC issues where some of the tags snapped off. I think money would be better spent on Arccos, Garmin or Shot Scope with proven track records.

Ty for the response. I just got Arccos and it seems to work well most of the time but was looking for a way to save the $155/year. Sounds like I'll be sticking to that for the time being.

Look into the shot scope products. They have a bunch of options with tracking tags and have no yearly fees, a standalone GPS, GPS watches, a set of tags that can be used by tapping your phone. I really like using the x5 watch. The only thing I miss from Arccos is the ability to see where you walked to better place your shots.

The older arccos sensors don't require a subscription. You can usually find them on ebay. They're a bit longer, so you might have to choke down by half an inch or so if you feel the sensor during your swing.

I've had good luck with these for several years. Most of my original set had smaller screw posts and broke over time, but were always replaced free of charge with the newer version with thicker screw posts (which these should be out-of-the-box) and none of those have ever broken. You do have to remember to tag your shots... the most convenient way I've found is phone-in-pocket with the back pointing out and just tap the club through your pocket.

Automatic hole advancement in the software has improved dramatically, but I still usually check between holes to make sure everything logged correctly and advanced to the next hole. I used GolfPad Pro for a whole season without tags prior to adding them, so I was already accustomed to the process. It also works quite nicely with an Apple Watch as well, to the point that if I was starting out today without the tags, I'd probably just use it watch-only without tags.

I've had both but because of high AF, i think golfpad wins. Their app is little bit better too.

I bought these 2 years ago, went with it mainly because of the yearly subscription being much cheaper than others. It has the general functionality I like, though I wish I was more consistent so the caddy could help me out better with club selection!

I hope these don't detect me cheating, like taking the ball out from behind a tree and rolling it 7 ft closer to the green

I just got these refurbished through the golfpad app for $50. But if that's not available anymore, this isn't a bad deal either. I've used the app for years and absolutely love it. So far have only tried the tags once but they worked fine. Had to tap a few extra times occasionally but overall I was very satisfied in how well they worked.

There is zero reason why this should have a subscription attached to it for what it does other than just money grabbing. It's an NFC tag using existing map coordinates that cost zero dollars to integrate.

Unless this tracker is going to help me find my ball in the woods, it's not gonna help.
