Yeah...I got a few gimbals from Amazon prior to my Alaska trip and kept one. Way too cumbersome to take out, attach phone, start recording etc. Eventually one just grabs the phone and records without the gimbal.
Maybe useful for certain use cases or long recordings or kids games etc. I don't know how often it's used.
I have a cheap one. I record sports footage. I'm considering this. Any reviews of how it performs with a iPhone 12 Pro Max or any pro max of the newer generations?

Ummm. This is a 3 axis gimbal. Which only helps with side to side movement but it's not helpful for up and down movement. I wish I had known that before I got my 3 axis gimbal. If you want up and down smoothness then look for a 4 axis gimbal
I have this. I've used it quite a bit. Great for taking moving time-lapse videos. Come out amazing. My Galaxy s23 ultra fits without issues. Yeah sometimes it's work to take it out but it has good creative features. That's just my opinion

I have the DJI 3 version and it stopped working after not being used for awhile. Honestly, I think phones are so good nowadays with stabilization that you don't need this type of gadgets anymore.
The original commenter didn't know what they were talking about. Virtually all handheld gimbals are 3-axis, which includes pan (L/R), tilt (up/down), and roll axis.
That's high end cinematography territory unfortunately. But I was under the impression that 3 axis gimbals were for up and down movement but they are not. I guess I would ask is what is your goals? They are great for side to side shots. Also Timelapse with movement shots. Sometimes great for dolly cam shots. I worked on a project that someone used a gimbal and quite frankly, I think a standard iPhone hand held stick would have done a better job. Most of the recent iPhones has good image stabilization already built in.
But if your trying to get this "drone" like effect where you are running after a subject and you want to give the impression of flying, this gimbal can do effects like that

I don't really have a goal. I thought I was going to miss out on a feature so asked what's the fuss with the 4 VS 3 axis. I can barely do justice to a basic gimbal. Appreciate the insights though.
