Fine, I'll make my own announcement.

Geeesh...if this is how they are going to treat me now that I'm on the team......hmmmph. laugh out loud

OK here's the scoop...are you paying attention?

I had a nice long phone interview with Bryantq back in Nov. and last week they flew me in to Vegas for the face-to-face interview.
The night before last, Bryantq informed me that I did indeed get the job. Yahoo! Whee I will be starting as the CRM of slickdeals on January 11th (barring any travel delays). They have informed me that they want to start me off as a Moderator while I'm still here in MI wrapping things up and prepping to move so that I can see what things are like behind the scenes.

*The Wizard is letting me see behind the curtain. nod

I have the next 2 weeks off work due to the holidays and then Jan.4th I will go back to my driving job for my last day. On Jan 5th, Bea and I will get in my car and start the 2100 mile drive to Las Vegas. Faint
I think I know what Dorthy felt like on her trip to Oz.

I am extremely excited about this opportunity and a tad...scared as hell! laugh out loud
I only have about 1015 things to do in the next 2 weeks.

Ummm since I can't even sticky my own announcement...that I had to make for myself...this feels a bit anticlimactic. Sadwalk

Thank you. Everything about it will be a change for me. I will not only miss my family terribly but I will miss the beauty that is Michigan.

If it weren't for the excitement for the opportunity to work for slickdeals then I wouldn't even consider moving that far way and into such a different landscape. This is a whole lifestyle change and I have such a good inner feeling about it all that it's taking away the fear and trepidation...ya know? It's kind of weird that way.
as a Michigander whose been to vegas in several past January's, I can say that January is probably a good time to go to help you in the transition.. The weather in Vegas in Jan is like October in MI..

It's rather pretty out there too.. just drive away about 15-20 min into the boon-docks if you're stuck on the strip

Once I found some familiar stores (Target.. thrift(possibly Goodwill) ).. I started to get comfortable..

AND.. January is a clearance time at some of the stores in some of the malls Whee (last time I went, I had to pay the airline extra 'cause my luggage weighed so much more coming home laugh out loud )

Oh pfft...When I got there a week ago Tuesday it has snowed in the mountians that morning so it was about 50 degrees...like a nice spring MI day...beautiful that way, yeah. So after the interview they decide to take me to dinner. MrSD and bryantq decide to ride with me in my "non-extra insured) rental car (which I am trying to be ultra careful with)...and they crank up the heat. laugh out loud
get used to it, people in Vegas really aren't sure what to do with themselves if its below about 80 laugh out loud

even my office building up north they keep about 75, which I find to be way to hot for winter, I'm used to my poor college student days in Madison where 65 was a luxury.

Do you take Paypal? Drool

laugh out loud

Seriously ... do you take Paypal?
Yes...yes I have. It was a bit weird...I expected flashing lights, walls of machines...a smokey mist...

Instead they had a moat...alligators and scorpions...the employees were chained to their desks saying "yes, master" over and over and over. Evillaugh

*thinks about setting up paypal account.

Oh multi colored stickies are provided. I just need staples and cookies. drool
I guess that I'd better make a big batch of cookies before I drive out there...perhaps that will keep you all distracted long enough for me to get settled in (read as...screw up a few times without getting fired)

I will need to do all kinds of shopping once I am out there.

I have 18 years worth of accumulated crap in my house right now.

I have multiple lists of what needs to get done before I leave.
I plan on renting an apartment for at least 6 months while my dad's wife puts my house on the market here.

I don't plan on bringing a lot out there but will need movers to do some of the work. My little car doesn't hold much. I will leave most of my furniture here and have to start over once I get a home in Vegas.

I'm hoping that my house sells within the year and then I can take advantage of the housing market out there.

I am being told by many that the weather out there will be much better for my health...like not living on a giant mold spore (sorry MI, I love ya but....) and that the drier weather will be good on my neck and spine...and my doctor is thrilled about the thought of me not working around germ pods anymore. laugh out loud She's been after me for years to get a job that doesn't involve a ton of kids. I didn't say that. Compared to the hell that is being a school bus driver (and for 12 years, I was one of the people that caused the hell Stick Out Tongue) I think SD won't be a problem.
