Geeesh...if this is how they are going to treat me now that I'm on the team......hmmmph.
OK here's the scoop...are you paying attention?
I had a nice long phone interview with Bryantq back in Nov. and last week they flew me in to Vegas for the face-to-face interview.
The night before last, Bryantq informed me that I did indeed get the job.
I will be starting as the CRM of slickdeals on January 11th (barring any travel delays). They have informed me that they want to start me off as a Moderator while I'm still here in MI wrapping things up and prepping to move so that I can see what things are like behind the scenes.
*The Wizard is letting me see behind the curtain.
I have the next 2 weeks off work due to the holidays and then Jan.4th I will go back to my driving job for my last day. On Jan 5th, Bea and I will get in my car and start the 2100 mile drive to Las Vegas.
I think I know what Dorthy felt like on her trip to Oz.
I am extremely excited about this opportunity and a tad...scared as hell!
I only have about 1015 things to do in the next 2 weeks.
Ummm since I can't even sticky my own announcement...that I had to make for myself...this feels a bit anticlimactic.

What kind of benefits are you getting? Full health/dental? 401(k) & profit sharing? How much time off do you get? Do you get to drive one of the solid gold Ferraris? Are they issuing you a company laptop and Blackberry so you can use your banhammer from the cabana? What's your official title and when do we get to see a scan of your new business card?

It was really cool to come home to this welcoming commitee.
I truly appreciate all of the well wishes and congrats you have given me.
I am sure there are a few who wonder whether I will be fair in here. I think that my personality is such that I can view issues unbiasedly. I may bum out a friend or two along the way but I hope that you will see that I can and will be fair.
I really want everyone to have fun here...it's why I hang out here so much.
I know that for a while I will be slow at this. I have so much to do to prep for my move...and to learn a few things while I'm still in MI about being a mod.
I welcome all suggestions...and will do my best to help anyone who asks for it and watch for those who might be afraid to ask.
My PM box is always open and even if I cannot resolve an issue to your liking...you will always have a shoulder to cry on or an ear to bitc...complain into.
there was an opportunity open (for anyone interested), you chose to apply for it. you went thru the process....interviewed just the like others and was hired. if the admins didn't think you can do the job, there wouldn't be this thread. i'm sure just like you have faith in yourself, they saw the same.
<--- a little sad you'll be farther away (but always close to my

And I don't always appreciate the feedback you give me, but I do appreciate the fact that you throw something honest out there that lets me see things from a different pov and may even alter my stance on how I react or don't react. Asking for mods to be unbiased shouldn't be a great feat of human endurance, but to those who are capable of being so, they have my respect, something you'll always have with me. Love ya back

I get a solid gold ban hammer...keys to the company jet (chauffeur's license and all that)...and first dibs on the office's open bar. Bea gets her own couch in the mod lounge and all the nummies she wants.

and thanks for the pep talk...I think it's time to come out of my shell so to say...but I'm still nervous :/
Btw,I'm a bus aide (EBD bus) and you might get a kick out of my idea that I came up after a particularly awful ride. It'd only work at curbside pickups/individual stops, but:
Instead of the standard bus layout, replace each seat with a "pod". In place of the center aisle is a mount for said pod. When you get to the stop in the evening, the driver just punches a button on the dash and the pod is fired out onto the kid's lawn. In the morning, a recall system sucks the pod back onto the bus. No student interaction, no bus fights.
here's a pic of my baby Jackson that I was telling you about (I'll have to bring him to visit Bea if we go to LV next year like I'm hoping
