You're still wrong. I have a V4 and can review footage from the SD card.
Click "SD Card" and you can select what time you want to see.

Works better than it did in the past. Not sure if thats a software update or the newer camera.

I like the new v4. Each version has slightly different things about it. The v4 has twice the resolution, which means the feed looks better than the v3, but you won't be reading license plates at distance. The v4 has good color, meaning pretty true, slightly warmer than the v3. The v4 does not have the near infrared led option like the v3 has, so it has 4 dim red LEDs when seen at night. The v4 has a smart zoom feature that can be toggled. If there's motion within it's view, it automatically zooms in on it and follows it (pretty well, not real smooth though). It leaves a little picture in picture when this is activated, to show where in the field of view you're zoomed in on. I think the v4 loads about the same speed as the v3. So the OG cam still has has it beat as the fastest to pull up live view. But the OG is pretty quirky in my experience. Color balance is just a little weird, I get double notifications a lot if the subscription is activated for it, and I don't care for the vertical sd card scrolling. The v4 has the vertical scrolling, too. I can't compare the v3 on this because I currently don't have an SD card in the v3. I just recently set it back up to view my fish, lol.

The v4 is unreliable.
Check out Reddit for people's experiences.
Over the past few days, my camera has been offline - regardless of several power cycles for troubleshooting.
I'm glad I just use it to check in on my dog when I'm at work - I'd be annoyed if it was for anything important.
My Doorbell v2, floodlight pro, and v3s are working just fine.

Pretty happy w my v3 and v3 pan. Dont see much upgrade to go v4
After reading the changes in v4 including loss of Cam Plus Lite and physical dongle differences I'm going to leave my v3s in place too. If v4 truly could read a plate number I'd suffer the other problems for that, have caught so many hit and runs here with my v3s. But it seems reports on the 2k optics are overblown.

The Outdoor power adapter is sold separately, and is more than the camera itself, so bear in mind if you plan on using this outdoors that the price will be more than double what this deal is showing.
The included cable is thin (unless they changed it for the v4 but I don't see why they would) and can run right through a closed window, that's how I did all mine. You can also put the adapter in an "in use" outdoor outlet cover, may eventually wear out but it is just a standard USB charger, they're cheap.

I did wrap the part where the adapter connects to the little tail from the camera in electrical tape but it comes with a seal that goes over that part which would probably be enough on its own, just playing it safe. Been going for a year with no issues.

Yeah I compared my OG and v3 PAN to the v4. v4 was only slightly better and still won't read a plate unless it is fairly close and moving very slowly (which my OG can also do). The super high compression of the cloud cameras is at fault for this, not the resolution. It basically eliminates any difference between the two resolutions.

That being said, I hated the v3, the ghosting, blurring, and blocking was awful on it. The OG was a huge step up, and the v4 is similar. I would rather use SD cards and get no CPL than stick with the v3s.

The cameras are amazing but you'll have to get an annual camera membership to really utilize them, it's only $90 with the SLICKUNLIMITED coupon code.

The 5 minute cooldown is going to kill you if you don't want to pay Wyze for the subscription… just get an Eufy cam, that's what I've been using to track mice in my basement drop ceiling.

Wyze got greedy a long time ago, then continued to grow that greed… as is evident with the stupid v4 Cam Plus Lite removal. I was with them when they first came out, great and cheap product… they just got left behind by all the other Chinese companies, finally adding 2K is hilarious too 😂
Nice Big Grin I got Eufy and havent tracked mice but was wondering if I could track my movements while sleeping Big Grin - Yet to try that experiment.

These would work well, not as good as a standalone system which will have better image quality, and a central computer for recording and reviewing footage, but good for basic needs and definitely better than nothing.

I would get good quality SD cards (Samsung or Sandisk endurance rated ones), that way you can record 24x7, you wouldn't want to rely on "motion events" as people will constantly be moving around. You can set it to alert you if there is motion during the hours when the store is closed, and the rest of the time it will just record without sending alerts.

I'd say useful range to be able to make out a face is 20 to 30 feet so keep that in mind and get a few if needed.

Thank very much! It's a place to start! Just a small family-owned restaurant.
I appreciate the info!

I watch video from SD every day on a few different models of cams, no subscription. It is definitely not true.

For the money (on sale) I think it was a worthwhile upgrade from the v3. The new features are nice, playback from the SD has been redesigned and the picture does look sharper (even the color seems better during day).

For those don't want to pay for subscription....

This current Slickdeals "$25: TP-Link Tapo 2K QHD Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera w/ Color Night Vision at Amazon " would be better with the video quality just as good as Wyze Cam v4.
