Yeah; I have two WYZE (other models)

The subscription-based business is a total BS.
End up you'll pay so much more, with the gimmick of selling cheap cameras to lure you from the beginning

That doesn't match what's on Wyze's website. Cam plus is $3 per month per camera. The $10 per month plan cover unlimited cameras

is this camera actually bit tall so when i placed it under my window inside living room, i can raise it up to capture video through the window outside?
thanks
It's tall enough with more modern windows but not tall enough for older wooden casement windows.

I have owned over 30 Wyze cams, and currently use 15. This is one of their worst products. No, I don't have a WiFi issue. This specific camera has some horrid connection issues regardless of the placement and goes offline until rebooted almost daily.

It's too bad Wyze has gone down hill service wise. May get this camera to try though
Don't do it. I almost got this to replace a failing fleet of the cam v2's. Primary reasons:
1. They had an opportunity to embrace rtsp and chose to ditch it.
2. People have seen others feeds in the app, Google it.
3. Everything is behind a paid service by the time you get what you started out wanting

Other than that, they worked for a while in demanding heat. Got tired of having to use alt firmware to keep the rtsp live for on prem home security and ha purposes. Testing out a eufy, which checks all the boxes out of the box. So far I'm pleased.

Can't say I've seen this. Only thing that comes to mind is your home router/firewall is mucking with the remote access, ie port forwarding etc. That said, I listed all the reasons I moved away from wyze in my other reply.

Yeah it's their firmware, and not my WiFi. I've confirmed this with them, and they just simply fail to release a stable firmware upgrade to resolve it. Their moto is usually if it works in 75% of households than it's good enough. Terrible failure rate

I came to say the same. I've owned 10 cameras and using 7 now. Including the first version of the Pan. This second gen is the worst.

This is the worst of all the wyze cams I've owned. I have one mounted outside, and every month or so it ends up pointing downward (it is hanging upside down from the eve of the house) and when I try to re-point it in the app, it just says something like "limit reached". I have to physically rotate/move the camera part (without moving the base) to the correct position before I can move it in the app again. It also misses most motion events, not recording anything in the cam plus cloud.

On an unrelated topic, the one feature I find in Wyze cams that I love is the time-lapse recording. I haven't seen this in any other brand of cameras in this price range.

Used to recommend Wyze in a heartbeat and own a fair amount myself, but lately I'm on the verge of tossing them. Security and privacy concerns and unusable detection, like trees shaking and shadow casts on the ground triggers the alerts like it has epilepsy. Not sure why but their reliability has gone downhill quite a bit.

Adding to some of the issues discussed here, I've had a bunch of my Wyze v3s go dark all at once several times in the past year, and I had to dismount the camera just to get it re-added to my account. So if you have them mounted high up, time to grab the ladder. One was attributed to their "service outage" in the past year when their maintenance went south and users are somehow seeing other users camera thumbnail preview, basically a huge privacy violation. Had another complete blackout again recently and was out for several days again on all my cameras which fortunately resolved itself but without any root cause with their support and my diagnostics.

Great at its price point but now I'd rather pay more for reliability and better security. Doesn't help the cameras after v3 now require subscriptions to enable fundamental functions like 12 sec clip playback. Cant speak on how well their subscription features work like their AI detections, but from what I read it isn't that great. You pay for what you get?

How does this compare to a nest camera outdoor?

Have they fixed the Echo Show interface yet? They told me it was a "priority" months ago.
they only want to push out garbage. almost every firmware updates would break something.

What's the "+AI" mean and difference w the non AI? Is it built in? Isn't the AI part of the Cam Plus subscription?

I would agree with this. But I came from Arlo system. In my experience it's way LESS reliable than what I've dealt with Wyze. Wyze does go down from time to time, at least so far w my v3's. No issues w v4 or Pan Cam. But agree they need to improve their detection and filtering out tree leaves and shadow movements.

In the end Wyze is more reliable at a lower cost than my Arlo system. Maybe Arlo just sucks. But your miles may vary.

I picked up one of these and have pointing out the window at my front porch. Observations so far; keep in mind I've had limited time to mess around with it:
  • I do not like that the included bracket does not have a way to mount it to a horizontal surface
  • Since it's presently pointing out the window, I have the IR emitter turned off, but even then, the night footage is better than expected. Might even be sufficient if I leave it like this.
  • Detection picks up street cars and people walking on the sidewalk... unsure if detection distance can be changed so it only picks up action on the porch/driveway
  • I had to reduce the sensitivity as it motion of tree branches was setting off alerts
  • Speculative: Not sure this would survive if completely exposed outside once it starts snowing/freezing
  • I've had no drop-out issues
  • I can access video with Amazon Echo Show (but the Echo Show sucks and I do not recommend it)

I pay $1 per month for Cam Plus Lite. This cam may or may not qualify, but I don't believe they're accepting new CPL subscriptions now.
This cam does not work with CPL. I'm sticking with my older cams for now.

The following cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite:

Wyze Cam v1, v2 and v3
Wyze Cam Pan v1 and v2
Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 and v2
