AmEx has been a problem lately on international transactions too. I've used it for no-fee payments in other currencies, and now many processors won't take it. I've had rejections from the UK to Japan of AmEx as of late. It's killing many of the reasons I got the damned thing.
If you don't have a chase card like myself, you can always do target redcard to take 5% off ebay gift cards.
I prefer to use credit card than gift card, especially when make eBay purchases.
Years ago I bought something on eBay, the seller shipped it.
However I never received the item, so I disputed with eBay.
But eBay sided with the seller cuz tracking # showed it was delivered.
Then I disputed with my credit card, and they were able to get my money back.
If I used gift card, don't think I can get my money back.
it will be disabled after the date announced. you won't be to use PayPal with amex either on ebay.
You are misinterpreting whatever you read. Of course you can still use your AMEX via PayPal after they cut ties. PayPal is eating the CC fees when using their service.
Really? Because I gotta say I have been using Paypal a long long time and I have not yet seen a situation where I couldn't use some of my payment methods within my Paypal. Wonder how eBay will pull that off? Not that it matters since I have no plans to use Amex on eBay.
I know that because I thought the same. I wanted to make insurance payment with amex but the company said they don't accept amex only visa and master, I thought I would just go through paypay but paypal wouldn't let me chose amex as it was blurred out. That's what I'm guessing will happen most likely in this case since they know people are smart and would use paypal. I could be wrong though just sharing my experience.
Amex Blue is the oldest card I have owned since over 24 years now.. so I don't intend to close it ever. However my usage of Amex card has significantly reduced over the years as benefits got cut. First Costco stopped accepting it several years ago, then they dropped extended warranty. Now I use it to buy something small once a year or so to ensure they don't close my card account (or sometimes when they have a decent Amex offer in the account). Chase freedom, Discover and Fidelity Visa have now become my go-to cards for all transactions.

Amex is basically saying eBay is not worth their time to give favorable rates like big retailers like Target, etc
