I moved onto a property that had about 15 ferral cats on it I was able to get most future litters of kittens to be domesticated and human friendly and in turn they are all now fixed but that's not what this story is about this story is about a kitten named tiger.
Tiger got really sick and when she got better she was permanently scared leaving her unable to smell.
A cat will not eat if they can't smell at least that's what my friend at the animal shelter told me and she said I'm sorry but the humane thing to do is put her down I was not satisfied with that answer and continued to try and get her to eat.
Tiger was so skinny and had no energy to get up and move at all.
Going back to before Tiger got sick I was at the grocery outlet and they had temptations on sale and I bought all they had and every day I would take a handful and toss them up against the wall and the kittens would hear the click clack sound and come running eventually I ran out and could not afford to purchase them at regular price now back to present time when tiger was on the verge of death.
I was in the grocery outlet again and they had a sale on temptations I purchase what they had left came home and threw a handful uo against the wall and all the cats came running including tiger and wouldn't you know it she was eating the temptations out of her memory of that sound and it meant food not because she could smell them but she remembered that sound it was a very emotional experience for me.
And to this day tiger will not eat out of a bowl but she will eat if I pick it up out of the bowl and drop it in front of her.
Just thought I would share that story.
By the way I have been a dog person my whole life and was never really fond of cats until I moved onto this property now I can't live without my kitties they all have a special place in my heart.
