Here is the cheapest new android phone I have found. $29.99 from Walmart.
You can also just use any old android phone you have laying around. If your phone isn't listed then just choose "other android phone"

For example, a renewed S21 Ultra 128GB is at $749. Assuming $300 trade-in offer, you're still paying $449 for a used S21 Ultra 128G. Comparatively, I bought a brand new, unlocked S21 Ultra 256G at fleabay for $348, no trade-in requried. The $149 starting price OP posted seems like a click bait. I looked at OP's post a few minutes right after first posting and there were never any S23s offered, just S21 and S22.

Yes, Amazon has carried Samsung certified renewed but those are extremely hard to find on their website and the prices are a lot higher than Samsung direct. On a rare occassion you might get a deal, but only seen it happen once.
Amazon "refurbished" is nothing more than someone wiping off the clown makeup from the last owner, if you even that lucky. They don't do a thing to the phones. Often never even checking to see if the phone is locked to a carrier. It's a joke. I never waste my time on Amazon refurbished. If you get lucky you get lucky.
Yes, the prices on Samsung are still too high. I follow the dates of when models usually show up on the site and when they have great deals. Samsung was late in posting the certified renewed S23 models. Limited supply. They keep running out. You have to check back often to find what you are looking for. Even the S21 basic seems to be available, yet won't ship to any zip code. Unavailable. but you can get if you check often. Sometimes taking a week to come back in stock. This is why the prices are elevated for all models.
