Metcon 9 Workout Shoes Product Description:
  • Tougher and Stronger
    • We made the Hyperlift plate in the heel even bigger for stability when getting after tough workouts like split squats, dead lifts and other lower-body exercises. The plate helps force weight down and out while adding rigidity in the heel. That firmness helps you feel grounded and supported, specifically under heavier loads.
  • Secure Feel
    • The lace lock system attaches to the shoe tongue, so you don't have to worry about latching it to any fabric. It helps keep your laces in place, so once you tie up, you can focus solely on your workout.
  • Go to the Top
    • We extended the rubber wrap on the side for durability and support, so that you can scale any kind of rope climb with the same repeated velocity without worrying about wear and tear. It stretches from the midsole to the upper and adds some support in the upper for multidirectional movements.
  • Durable and Cool
    • Lightweight, breathable mesh helps keep your foot cool yet sports the kind of durability that can withstand scrapes, slashes and quick-drag movements.
  • Feel the Foam
    • Dual-density midsole—firm foam on the outside, soft foam on the inside—provides responsive cushioning for lasting comfort for continuous cardio and movements.
  • More Benefits
    • Full rubber outsole provides durable traction for dynamic movements like cleans and walking lunges.
    • Breathable textile has a haptic print, which creates a 3-D effect that adds durability and texture, helping make it easier to keep your shoes clean. Also, it sports flexible, durable support in the toe area, so that when your toes splay when lifting heavy weights, it won't feel restrictive.

I always feel a little wobbly during split squats. Do shoes like these fix that problem?

I got the 8s how's the toe box on the rainbow looking ones. Is it wide?
The 9s are their widest Metcon in a while! I usually stay away from them because they're traditionally narrow, but these have been great. Other wide ones to look at would be the Adidas Dropset Trainer 2, which are also on sale.

Much more affordable than the Trump-branded gold high-top sneakers ($400)

Finally, workout shoes. Which one is better for HIIT/functional training? Thanks op
I prefer Metcon 5 for HIIT.

Sorry if I don't belong here, but based on the other posts I've seen, I figured y'all would be the best to ask - I'm not an athlete, I don't work out much (did before the pandemic, but health issues got in the way), but I do walk a couple miles every day. Nothing crazy, just around the neighborhood.

Would either of these shoes be good for that? Or would they be overkill? My current sneakers were just a cheap pair I got on sale from Kohls, so I would like to get a better pair (might start running.....trying to run again in the future, not sure), but have no idea what to get, and often my purchases are based on what I see for sale here at slickdeals :-)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm no expert, but would suggest looking elsewhere. Maybe HOKA. These intentionally have thinner soles and are more "flat" so that you can better control your movements during training / lifting. That might be an issue for running / walking due to lower impact damping. Hope other can chime in and confirm

Dude, for HIIT go with Free Metcons NOT Metcons. Metcons are predominantly your "lifters".

I use Free Metcons and absolutely adore them for all HIIT and related training. Tried a lot of cheaper 'models' and they were all crap.
I use Metcons (these ones) for days when I have heavy lifts (albeit I'm not a hardcore lifter). They're great for squats, dl, cleans etc. type of work.

HOKA, Saucony are extremely well regarded for such activity. Specific models though can be very personal depending on activity type, preferences, intensity etc. But keep an eye out for deals on those brands - and look around on Reddit for intel on what type to wear.

I have metcons and honestly i don't think they're that great. Get romellos for lifting if you want nike. Otherwise a regular running shoe is so much better for cardio. idk
Are you implying that you use metcons for cardio?! Literally the one thing they're explicitly not designed for.

I can think of a way more hideous gold sneaker and it was way overpriced.
