- We made the Hyperlift plate in the heel even bigger for stability when getting after tough workouts like split squats, dead lifts and other lower-body exercises. Would either of these shoes be good for that? Or would they be overkill? My current sneakers were just a cheap pair I got on sale from Kohls, so I would like to get a better pair (might start running.....trying to run again in the future, not sure), but have no idea what to get, and often my purchases are based on what I see for sale here at slickdeals :-)

I use Free Metcons and absolutely adore them for all HIIT and related training. Tried a lot of cheaper 'models' and they were all crap.
I use Metcons (these ones) for days when I have heavy lifts (albeit I'm not a hardcore lifter). They're great for squats, dl, cleans etc. type of work.
