For those who have only had Betty crocker and other lesser instant potato brands (even if you're not going to buy these please do yourself a favor and never try the Betty crocker version it's shockingly bad.) if you are interested in or want to try instant mashed potatoes definitely give Idahoan a try as so far this brand is my absolute favorite instant mash to make either mashed potatoes or as a thickening ingredient for potato friendly soups. Usually a very decent shelf life (before expiration date which may or may not stop you from enjoying these after the fact) and easy to make if you're camping/lazy. Thanks OP

Agreed, I normally get Idahoan (the buttery flavor is our fav), but picked up these BC (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LWZZ8CW/) on a slickdeal for $5 a while back. It was shocking just how bad the BC mashed potatoes were... gritty, lumpy no matter how much mixed, nasty flavor... I wouldn't have thought that instant mashed potatoes could be screwed up... but they can. I enjoy many BC things, but for instant mashed... go Idahoan or go home.
