Brushless is the way to go, and these TTI-made Hart units easily compete with equivalent Ryobi (since that's probably what they are). Blah blah blah Ryobi will be around forever Hart could go away at any time blah blah blah. I've had mine for something like 6 years now and they've built two decks, a treehouse, and countless home improvement projects. The naysayers might eventually be right, but by the time they are, I will have gotten my money out of them 10x over.
You basically connect a wire from the + and - terminal from the dead battery to a working battery respectively (I had another Hart battery that was good but I'm assuming a Ryobi, DeWalt, etc battery should work fine too as long as they are the same voltage). Let it sit for a good 30 seconds to a minute. Then try to charge again using the supplied charger.

Ryobi brushless is a lot better quality components than brushed Ryobi so I'm going to assume that the same is true for Hart.
