Reconditioned ego products don't come with a normal battery warranty, it's covered by the short reconditioned item warranty. In my experience they include garbage batteries with them that die before the normal warranty period. Advise you stay away.

I've bought a reconditioned snowblower and chainsaw from Acme. No problems with batteries or tools.
This is a great chainsaw. I just upgraded to the 20" but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

You always roll the dice on refurbished and batteries. However, this pricing, at least for me, is hard to pass up.

I don't quite need the 20 inch chainsaw and probably won't use this one much other than to finish cutting up a tree we have in our yard. It'll be nice to have it around in case I do.

It's a great saw. I was surprised how much heavier the 20" saw is compared to the 18". I'm hanging on to the 18" till I know I can handle the extra weight.
At my cabin there's always some downed trees to clean up.

If 16" is enough for you, Ace Hardware is selling the 16" chainsaw kit with 2.5ah battery and charger -- new -- for $249. For Ace Club members, but it's free. The 16" with 5ah battery kit is $299.
If you have an Ace Hardware in your area and are in the EGO line, keep an eye on their sales. They often have better deals than Lowe's. And they're locally-owned.

I bought it new last November for $259 and it's a very good saw. Wait for a deal on a new one if you are not in a rush.

Yeah I paid $329 three years ago. I'm shocked to see it is $400 now for a new one.

Ego was expensive 3 years ago. The only kit I could afford was a refurb lawn mower with 2 ah batteries and that was the start into the Ego system. I personally feel that the msrp is way overpriced and we can buy at a great price when it goes on sale. Of course, we are not in need for that moment. Recently the $300 off $500 amazon deal was great and I probably could have done without it, but the pole saw was the one I really wanted.

Ego is a good brand and I've used one of these. It wasn't enough to cut down an 8" tree and buck it on one battery. But this claim is false "price is almost half the cost of a new one." - it's $280 new on Amazon. It's a better deal to get it new - battery reliability is very important.

$280 new on Amazon is just the saw. $399 for saw and 5ah battery with charger.

Do you have a link to the $280 one on Amazon? Here's what I see on Amazon for the model number -

There is a battery-less one for $280. The one with battery is $400.

Oops - you're right but Greenwood's has a 16" with battery for $280. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0878QVVCY

I would stay away from any recondition. You will only get 1 year warranty that including the battery. Because you will get recondition battery along with the tool. it isn't just the tool is recondition.

I have experience with a blower that is recondition and came with recondition battery. it will work for over a year by that time Ego 1 year warranty is expired.

So stay away from recondition.
