Great price! FYI for readers: it's 370 lb worth of weights PLUS the barbell. The weight of the barbell is not included in the weight!

If you intend on deadlifting, clean and jerk etc basically any exercise that involves dropping the weight,'you want bumper.

One set of weights is colored and one is not. Otherwise they're identical. The big difference is the barbell - I think most would recommend buying a very high quality barbell if you can swing it. They last forever, will have better knurling, and can probably hold more weight (if that matters to you).

This is what I was thinking. Generic bars tend to be super lower quality, and you can get them new and cheap for 70 bucks from sellers on Ebay or Marketplace. I would bet, if you take the hubs off, the bearings will be dog.

BTW, just letting you guys know the bar in this set is pretty decent for starters, it recently was on sale for $55 and was for $39 one time

If the barbell pictured is what you actually get, then it actually looks halfway decent. The sleeves have end caps kept on by a snap ring, which indicates bushings, which means spin should be sufficient. Knurling may be a whole different story, but if you're looking for plates and don't already have a good barbell, I think this is a great deal. Normally the barbells that are "included" are absolute garbage and is the first thing you'll end up wanting to replace. But this one might be a keeper!

To further explain the barbell, if they took the time to use bushings/end caps on the sleeves (as opposed to an exposed hex bolt that you usually see on low end bars), then it *usually* means the bar is decent all-around, as far as knurling/tensile strength/etc. I wouldn't expect Rogue quality here. But I doubt they bothered with the extra time/expense on bushing sleeves if the bar is trash.

Can you muscle heads make a recommendation for a good quality-value Smith Machine? I'm not a muscle minded person but I like the idea of a Smith Machine for lifting weights over just a simple bench.
