TLDR: set store to location with new model in stock for pickup.

I have just picked up mine today.
Since no one has posted, this is what seems to be going on.

New model m12 circular saw was released, in order to clear out old inventory, the old saw has a sale (very common)

To keep things simple, they won't keep 2 product pages up soo they linked the new saw to the point to the current saws page which isn't best but there it is, this should change when stores get the new model saw in stock. So if you're store hasn't gotten the updated model, it won't be an easy time getting the new one for old price. So solution: go pick up at store which already has the new saw before this gets fixed.

OLD MODEL: 2530-20
NEW MODEL; 2521-20

Easiest way to visually eyeball it is probably the new one has a black guard instead of grey.

Just picked up mine from HD lockers. I've been using the big m18 for a long time. This is a nice addition. So tiny and perfect for a lot of jobs. Does wonder on the wrist.

I'm not sure I understand the concept for making this M12???? I have the M18 versions, including the rear handle, so this doesn't really make sense to me.
"I can only fathom what I myself might use this for, but I already have an M18, so it's pointless for everyone" 🙄

Quote from Mr.Remarkable :
Search on HD for 2521-20. Look at the locations that show it in stock. Go to that store check out the tools section.

If the old model is on the floor check the upper bays within 2-3 aisles of the tool section.

Or show CS that you need help finding that part number.

With the number of cancellations happening, I'd recommend skipping store pickup and going there to get it in person.

Ordered at 10am, 5 available. Cancellation email at 12pm "not in stock"

I just received a call from my local HD advising they do not have this item in stock and they cancelled the order. The stock online shows 5 available. Not sure what's going on.
These are new, and some stores likely haven't assigned a bin location or done the 'reset' yet to get them on the shelves - so the employee pulling order likely just can't find where they are. Going yourself to try to find it if you get a cancellation is probably just asking for a wasted trip. This exact thing happened to me when the new Milwaukee insulated screwdrivers showed stock in store - they were there somewhere, but no bin location/not on the shelf yet. Couldn't find them anywhere in topstock myself.

This is where I would tell myself to "stop" for tools running on batteries. This is my view and nothing against the tool or the new buyers.

Just watched a review. I've got the original version, and while it can manage cutting 2"x dimensional lumber, it's a little 'lacking' in power and will stall when pushed.

The new one sounds like it's less labored when cutting, and doesn't seem nearly as prone to stall when pushed hard. Probably worth the upgrade if you have & use the original one regularly.

I might snag this and try to get ~$80 for the old one.

Got delivered the m18 circular saw from Amazon for $101 today. More powerful than the m12.

The m12 listed is the brushless model the m18 you purchased is not brushless

Just a word of advice: don't be like me and expect to find it in store if on the website it's listed as "limited stock" "visit [store location] for availability" where there's no in store pickup option. I went down to my store hoping to get lucky, checked high on shelf for that aisle and several adjacent aisles, specifically for the specific Store SKU# (1010 655 663), on brown boxes still unpacked or the red packaging itself.

I'm 95% sure my store didn't have them, only the old model. Wasted a good hour trying to hunt it down lol. Now if it actually lets you pickup at store, that's a different story… THEN I'd definitely try to go to store in person.

Anyway, since I live in a major metro area and I was 24hr late to the deal, it was probably long gone at my local store, if it was ever even actually available. There did show 5 ready for pickup in a store 2 hr away, ordered one there because lucky my SO's dad lives nearby and can pick it up for me. Crossing my fingers!

Picked mine up from the locker a few hours ago. Incidentally when I saw all the talk of cancellations last night, I pulled up the listing and it was completely greyed out and unavailable. I'm guessing that when we order for store pickup, someone is noticing the glitch and either cancelling orders or filling the one order they did get, and then removing the new model from inventory until HD straightens it out.

Can anyone comment why a diy/homeowner would use this if they already have an m18 fuel version or a dewalt XR brushless 6.5" brushless circ saw? I'm thinking that having the 6.5" combined with the 4.5" saw would accomplish both ends of the spectrum(capacity/power vs portability/lightweight)

For the record when I started using the 20v XR dewalt circ saw I thought it was so portable and powerful and light coming from a corded circ saw.

I was thinking of getting into the m12 fuel line but currently roll with dewalt 20v xr and ryobi 18v(some 1+ some brushed)

'Close quarters' stuff like cutting out a piece of subfloor in a confined space, cutting overhead, or in otherwise awkward spaces like an attic where a bigger/heavier saw might be a hassle. These things are super light & compact.

M12 lineup is awesome for so many professions, you won't regret getting your foot in the door (your wallet might, though)

Ordered early this morning...got a cancelation email at like 645am "out of stock." Avaulable units on Home Depot website went from 5 down to Limited Stock. Went to the very store I had ordered from and been canceled at like 715am and within 90 seconds found the 5 they had up in top stock with the rest of the Milwaukee overstock. Someone got one down for me, and I went on my way.

Thanks OP...This is why I regularly check this site 👍

Update: order cancelled.

As a couple of other people mentioned, after I ordered it went from 5 available to pickup, to "limited stock". Unfortunately since it is far away and was gonna have someone else pick up for me, I'm gonna have to let this one go. I'm pretty confident that if I actually went to the store it would be on the high shelf overstock. Oh well, good luck to everyone else.
