there is a subscription if you want certain features like the weather detect and smart schedule based on weather. It is $10 a year and I believe you get a free year with the purchase. If you just want to use it for a basic daily on/off scheduler then that is free. Believe you can also use the app to manually turn the sprinklers on if you don't want a schedule.

I bought this over three years ago as an interim while I waited for a Rachio deal, but haven't found a reason to upgrade from it.

From what I see it's people complaining about their refurb they bought being either damaged or the 1 year code redeemed, problem with this kind of stuff is there are a lot of technologically illiterate people who can't figure out how to hook stuff up to wifi or program stuff who go give 1 stars.

Great deal, we have one for the past three years and it's been great. I think I had bought it for around $45ish when it was on sale on Amazon.

I think this might be the best price ever offered on it from what I can tell. Other then when it first released it had a pre-order price of $40 but had 3 years of service for the subscription plan.

This thing is awesome.
It works well remotely. Also has an auto function that watches the weather. It always seems to water the lawn a tad bit more than necessary. But overall love it

My experience is the opposite when it comes to watering the lawn more.. for me if the 'smart schedule' is set it always tends to skip occasionally saying there's enough water so I've gone back to the fixed schedule so that it only skips based on the rain sensor only.

TY op looks like it meets my needs to water the lawn for x amounts at the time I program it to. People always recommend the $150 rachio but if this can do that simple task while letting me control it from my phone, don't know why I would pay the extra $115.

Coupon code PLEASE will take $1 off fyi for people buying.

For what it's worth, The recent reviews on Amazon are pretty horrible…. I was about to get one as a backup to my rachio if it ever failed, but think I'm gonna pass. Ty though.

That is a broad question, do you have a sprinkler system installed in the ground already? If not you need to put piping all around your yard and place sprinklers and install valves to send water to your all zones. This controller gets wires from each valve installed on the back, and it sends a signal to open the valve and let the water pressure through to that zone. Other things to worry about like how much water pressure there is from your source of sprinkler water, and you may need additional things like pumps.

This would be for an existing underground sprinkler system or a new one. If you are doing something above the ground with hoses there are other options and will vary greatly depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

Kinda misleading, don't you need the controller box as well?

nevermind, I see. The photos are not entirely complete. They don't show the wiring options etc, which is stupid marketing. The controller box is just a housing unit.

edit: I watched a setup video, I do NOT need the seperate Controller box, that's if your system is / box is outside. Mines in the garage, so I just need the controller.

I have a Rainbird ESP-M Controller box / timer.
To replace my rainbird, do I need the Wyze 'Controller Box'? and the Wyze 'Contoller'?

Controller is in the thread, this is the Box.. https://www.wyze.com/products/wyz...roller-box
