Uh-oh. Looks like T-Mo will not allow you to pay off the phone early for unlock soon.

Give it a billing cycle or two. Let the promo credits start to work. Then you can pay it off to unlock. Once paid off the device promo credits switch over to line credits.
Thats how it was, but starting July 1, you won't be able to pay off early and keep getting credits….

T-Mobile keeps shooting itself in the foot with all these bad decisions. I'm planning to pay it off to unlock my new iPhone 13. Can I do it before the first bill cycle? I received mine last wk. want to beat the July deadline

Did you send in your trade device already?
Was the label for ups or usps?

Has to be disabled
just curious if it's in an condition, even broken one, how do they expect people to disable it.

(my i6 is perfect as it has been in the closet so no issues when they asked these questions)

i went through costco phone -- they tried to sell other things and have to listen to their speech but declined. got confirmation that promotion applied via text today.

That's not what the TMO source document states: Customers who have enrolled in promotions prior to July 1, 2024, are not included in this update.
The promotion, and not the EIP, needs to be active before July 1st if you want to keep the credits and pay it off early. Considering the usual disclaimer of "allow 2-3 billing cycles" for the promotion to appear on your bill, I would stay away from this promo and not risk it.

Do yourself a favor, pay more and sell the phone you have. These monthly credits can be a nightmare on T-Mobile
If your trade in device is in saleable condition, maybe. But for those of us with ancient, broken devices, this is a good time to swap.

Reading comprehension is not your strongsuit. What "up to"? The bare minimum TIV is solid the same.

go on iCloud.com and sign out?
I'm not sure
they almost always don't accept iCloud locked devices

After a literal nightmare of monthly payment credits for a phone, I'm never touching that again. Worked for six months, then they stopped giving me the credits and I had to call every month for a year and a half. Every time it took forever because they had to verify I was really eligible for the credit, then they would promise it would work from here on out and of course it never did. I wasted hours on the phone with T-Mobile over this.
going thru this nightmare now. 6 mos in and I'm calling every month.

Just a thought if you want to avoid the monthly credit nightmare... Backmarket has an iPhone 13 in blue, 256gb for only$423 after fees and taxes. It's good condition, not excellent. This T-Mobile phone is about $340 after tax for only 128gb. Only about $80 difference and no monthly credit nightmare. Then you can just sell your phone.
