Most likely a cheap Chinese DAC is used, as well as cheap connectors that could short out the Apple device.

If one is serious about audio, can't go wrong with a true Apple $10 adapter, highly rated:

I still have mine that came with 8+. Very useful adapter to connect better headsets.

Decent deal at this price.

I got this last time. It's decent for listening. I am not an expert, but it works if you have a generic need and it's nice that it has a braided cable. It might be a little wide for some cases. I did not have an issue myself, but others might.

This has very poor quality. out of 2 only one worked with one side of lightning. returned it immediately. Get genuine apple

No, I don't believe those headphones are fully analog where that would be possible.

Thanks OP. Not sure I really have any need for this, but I have a $10 BB gift card that has been trying to escape from my wallet for almost a year now. Tonight it finally got loose.
