The $5 promo code for email signup works on this.

Rated to 600 lbs, this should be great for carting my mother-in-law from her cell to the trough for meals. I just need a deal on some straps and a mouth guard.

Why don't you just take the bucket to her cage? So much easier.

Thats if they copy home depot, who just put the UPS label on a ladder and shipped to me. Driver may have used it to climb up the truck.

I've had a ladder shipped the same way. Tires as well. Once I saw an almost empty bag of potting soil on a UPS truck with a label slapped on it. Clearly most of the soil fell out during the multi day trip covering half the country.

Who needs packaging, right Wink

The one at Harbor Freight is $100, and it occasionally drops to $80. Since this is a tool made to save you money and frustration, I'd recommend paying more for the way better features of the HF dolly.

For the extra money, you get solid wheels that never go flat, padded rails that don't scratch the load or dolly, a roller for stairs that is superior to bigger tires, and an integrated lashing system. Also, two handles are way better for managing a load than the single handle on this one.

Once you pay $15 for a good fat strap, you'll have paid $65, and you'll still have a vastly inferior dolly. Add in the cost of a can of spray paint when you scratch your appliance, and tubes for the tires when you pinch flat the tires with a heavy load, and you are going to pay almost the same thing for a worse experience.

Idk, after the $5 off you're kind of comparing a $35 / $50 after straps to an $80 unit. Fairly big difference…..guess it depends on your needs, how often use, etc.

Like buying a cheap car vs expensive, you know…

Thanks for the info though. Just using this sparingly, for $35 seems like a nice deal.

The comparison item at harbor freight is $68, making this a savings of $28. I've never actually scratched an appliance with the one I've been using for 20 years.

The one you linked is also on clearance. For some reason the website won't show me if it's in stock at a local store.

I didn't see mention of $35. I just saw the $40 posted.

Totally depends on what you are carrying. If you are just moving file boxes, or flats of dishware or something, then the smaller handtruck is fine and lighter to toss in a truck. If you are moving a big load, you'd be better off with the better dolly in my opinion. The stair roller alone is worth it if you have to do stairs. One gently goes down stairs; the other drops about 8" repeatedly with a heavy load. I've used both several times in my life, and I find it absolutely nonsensical to risk your health to save $40-50 if you are moving heavy, potentially injurious things. For lighter things there's an argument for the cheaper one.

Pretty easy to scratch the sides of a washer/dryer or veneers on furniture and home theater towers. Professional movers wrap everything in plastic wrap and moving blankets to compensate for that exact issue, and thats a good option too. Every dolly that gets real use eventually gets the enamel paint scratched up. Whether that matters or not is up to the user. That's the absolute least important feature I'd consider out of the many other far more relevant ones I listed. Two ergonomic handles, a stair roller, a wider base platform, and integrated strapping are obvious improvements if you do stairs or carry big, heavy things.

If you're ever needing to go up the stairs the appliance dolly is the worst possible option

Something to consider if you're on the fence for a dolly: these larger tires are great if you are moving through doorways with a weatherstrip or plate. The hard wheel ones can break/damage those so the pneumatic tires are preferred.

I spent a few months looking for a dolly like this. HD, Lowe's, HF, etc all have this generic model (tube frame, 600 lbs). I never found it lower than $50 so this is a good deal in my mind.

Pro-tip: get it, let it sit in the garage. Your friends will eventually need to barrow one and if you have considerate friends, this thing will get you free beer! 😂

I have a business where I use hand trucks all the time. I bought one from Uline not too long ago, for about this price, and when it arrived I had to attached the axel and the wheels to the axle with some type of a cotter pin. When loaded down (~250 lbs) it creaks and clunks and I have a hard time trusting it.

The Milwaukee one I bought from Lowe's, which looks the same, is far better and makes none of those concerning noises.

If this Northern Tool one is like my Uline one (and it looks to me like it is), I'm not sure I can recommend it, unless you're not moving terribly heavy stuff.

As an aside, we also have a convertible Cosco hand truck I got at Costco, which doesn't have pneumatic wheels. It's great, if you never have to go over any bumps; but of varying terrain (even asphalt) or bumps are involved, always go pneumatic tires. My .02 on the matter.
