Another Microcenter unicorn. Good luck if you find one -- it's a terrific deal I would jump on in an instant if a) there was a MC within 100 miles, and b) if the one that is 100 miles away had any (they don't).

Price dropped well after they were sold out.

There was one showing in Indianapolis, but it's already gone.

Was this brand new? If it is then it's really worth it with 64gb. I wished there's MC in my area.

Argh! I was finally able to travel to LA from the Bay Area and picked up the M1 Max 64GB/4TB 16.2" Macbook Pro with 10-core CPU / 32-core GPU for $2,549.99 (Apple Certified Refurbished).

I think it's a little overkill for me...I would've preferred this model and saved $1,100 and still be future-proofed for software programming for the next 5-8 years!

Assuming it had been in stock at the Tustin location. Which, as others have indicated, may not have been a realistic expectation.

Damn.. that's a killer laptop! M1 Max 64gb/4TB 16". How is the performance? What type of software? What's the battery cycle and battery capacity? Which Micro Center? Is there more?

Performance is superb, as you can imagine. Battery cycle was 7. This was Apple Certified, so still comes with 1 year Apple warranty. No cosmetic defects. Everything looks brand new, down to the box that it came in (except it says Apple Certified Refurbished on the box).

Software is the standard software..

I got it from the Tustin, CA store. I believe previously there were 2 of these, but after checking their website again, I don't see any more left of this exact model.

I've been hunting for MBP deals for a while, so this was the result of luck+timing+effort.

Still, I was previously looking to spend no more than $1,800. I think even 32GB/1TB or 32GB/512GB would've been okay for my needs as a future software programmer.

What a killer deal. Having no microcenter around is absolutely a bumper. 64GB M1 Max probably presents by far the best value among the higher specs MBPs for those who care. Sacrificing little performance compared to later generations, but less than half of the price.
