Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
This looks like a big discount.
How's the deal though?
Complete beginner here.
Performance wise: super sufficient for 2k gaming, 4K probably not enough for Alan Wake 2.
Price is pretty sweet I think, Lenovo legion got good reputation.
Dell always claims they will match spec for spec on systems like this, I wonder if they would match this on an Alienware..
Why would you prefer Dell? Don't alienware PCs have quite a bit more proprietary parts, like power supply and motherboard? Afaik the legion uses standard ATX. Is it the support? I have had both Dell and lenovo devices and the company I work for paid for white glove from Lenovo, the repairman came to my house the next day and swapped my motherboard. Never had to use Dell but it's hard to beat my experience with Lenovo.
That's $1250, which leaves $230 to buy MB, PSU, case, and Windows license. In other words, I'm sure SOMEONE can rebuild this for cheaper — but it's pretty close.
Also have to remember this does include KB & mouse, which we may chuckle about, but some people don't have hundreds of dollars in gaming peripherals lying about like some of us degens.
Looks like a good deal for someone that wants a decent gaming PC, but doesn't want to bother with picking parts and actually building it (and dealing with DOAs and RMAs and separate warranties, etc.)

Wondering how you could spend $230 for Main board, PSU and case. You already spent $800 for the GPU, you probably won't want to cheap out on PSU Case and Mainboard. So I don't think you can buy all 3 items with only $230
I sold my 7700x with 4070 ti custom build for $950 on offer up.
Thought I would see by now prebuilds with 4080 going for around $1500. Prices should drop more as people can't afford luxuries like these gaming computers.

Probably when the 5080 are on shelves this Christmas, but most noobs have no clue. I got one for current gen mobo, 16GB of Vram, and no desire to build again in my retirement years.
My last 2 builds were i5-2500k based, but would rather wait for deals like this that are good enough for most tasks. Later on, I could just drop in a 5090 and put the 4070 Ti into my ancient backup i7-8700 pre-built.

Oh, sorry, I meant to infer that I doubt it was possible but this being SD, there is always some wiseass that finds some super specific scenario where they could do it that wouldn't be applicable to most people.
For example, my specific scenario would be:
1. I already have a spare Win 11 license, so I don't need to buy one.
2. I would be dismantling my existing self-built system to reuse the case, so again, don't need to buy one.
3. I already have a 2TB NVME ssd, so I can throw that money back into the pool.
So, for ~$330, I could get a decent MB and modular PSU, like:

It's because there's basically nothing putting downward pressure on 4080 prices. The 4080/90 perform better and are more stable than comparable AMD GPUs in ~90% of games, not to mention their superior ray tracing and upscaling tech, so gamers are still paying the ridiculous MSRPs since they have no alternatives if they want the best performance available today. Even if sales were to have gone down, gaming GPUs are a drop in the bucket for them compared to the amount of money their AI GPUs are bringing in so they've got very few reasons to care about gaming at the moment.
Really is a shit situation, but unless AMD or Intel somehow figure their shit out with GPUs we'll be stuck in this kind of non-competitive market for awhile.

This would be a 80% play/fun machine and 20% work. Normal day job has its own machine.
