I believe that the mats you linked to are an entirely different type of product. Yours are likely common soft foam mats. They aren't highly durable, but they are comfortable to lay on. Think of them like thick yoga mats.

The mats the OP linked to are thick rubber. They are made for abuse. In fact, Tractor Supply Co sells similar 4'x6' mats and they are called "horse stall mats". This is because this type of material is meant to withstand 1500+ lbs horses standing and stomping on them with their hooves.

Foam mats are good choices for a small area. Especially if you do a lot of ground work like pushups, stretching, and ab work. Think of them like a rug.

Rubber stall mats are good choices for gym flooring. They provide a lot of protection from exercise equipment and dropping weights.

These aren't as thick but are a better price per sq. ft. and are interlocking if that is of value to you all.

I was thinking decking tiles. Not sure how it will withstand the fl sun though.

How bad does this smell/outgas?
I have had the TSC ones for over six months and mine totally smell of the rubber still. I even had them laying flat outside individually apart for a week after purchase

How dense are these and would they be easy to cut?
Thinking maybe doubling/tripling and use them as less expensive absorption panels material.

Looks like they don't recommend to cover a whole floor with this as it's not always cut straight. Sucks, looks like Tractor Supply is what I'll need to go with since I'm covering a gym floor.

I got the ones from Costco (4 of them, actually) and it took a few months to offgas. Any rubber product like this will offgas to some degree. The Costco ones were not the easiest things to move and load, especially when I wasn't expecting them.

They're $23.97* at some warehouses right now, so I'd grab those first, personally.

I ordered 2 of these yesterday, and they were delivered today with free shipping. Normally they charged an oversize fee which prevented me from ordering in the past, but this time it fell under standard shipping for some reason which is free right now.

I have the TSC one for about 7 years in my garage to keep my weights on. It's been great, and being in the garage the smell doesn't bother me.
