50ft outdoor flexible cord has been on clearance at Costco for $19.97 for months in my location. You may want to check your local Costco.

The fridge consumes about 30 watts of power. A 25' 12 gauge extension cord can support 2400 watts. Buy the length and size cord you need. It will cost you less and won't be a giant bright yellow coil of excess cable poking out from behind the fridge.

Lower gauge is better. And no, lower gauge than you need is never a bad thing.
Sure it is; oversized wire doesn't coil as easily, won't fit through small holes, is heavier, and more expensive.

The advantages are...if you ever want to use it for something else, you might be able to?

According to Triple Camel, this is the lowest price within $1 over the last 14 years, which seems crazy to me. I feel like there have been some deals that pop up at this length and gauge for ~$15.
You may be thinking of this deal that I and many others got in on

I received a 6 pack ($82.91 total cost after tax)
$13.82 per cord

Treadmill is a better use case than a mini fridge, but the question really is... are you running in the middle of the street? If not, I'd imagine your treadmill is closer to an outlet than 25'. Get the right length extension cord for your application (or, in the case of most manufacturers, including my Sole F85, the manual says you must plug directly into outlet... and both your treadmill warranty and your homeowners insurance will thank you for doing so).

Lower gauge = bigger wire

FYI.. for anyone saying they've seen it cheaper a few years ago.. the price of copper has gone up.

I snagged this at my Costco for the same price several months ago (2 for $40). then, it was 2 for $60 a month ago

they now don't even carry it. (this is in the bay area)

so.. I'm in for 2 of these

Good cords. 🐝 I bought a set of 50s last year, used it to electric start my snowblower once or twice only, thanks to El nino. 🌞

I know there are better deals per foot when buying the 50ft, but I've been wanting a shorter 12/3 cord like this for ease of use on the back deck, primarily for pressure washing, where I really only need like a 15-20ft extension. For $20, I think this will do. Tyvm op
100% agree. I bought the 50 footer when it was on sale and I find it too long for most applications. 25 foot seems to be a sweet spot.

LOL, you misunderstood him. In American Wire Gauge (AWG) the lower means the ticker the wire the higher the gauge the thinner the wire is for example

18 gauge wire can carry 8 A current
16 gauge wire can carry 13 A current
14 gauge wire can carry 20 A current
12 gauge wire can carry 30 A current
10 gauge wire can carry 55 A current

Your examples are relative to length of cord. I've never seen a 12 GA cord at 30 amps usage unless it was like 10 ft long maybe? 14 GA is good for like 15 amps at 50 ft max. 12 GA is good for 20 amps at 50. I've ran 100 ft and was still good.

Would it be safe if I run this extension cord from an interior power outlet by the patio door to power a 1500 watts air fryer for no more than 20 minutes outside in good weather?

Of course lower gauge than what you need is not a bad thing but that doesn't mean you should pay a premium for lower gauge, which is what you are proposing.
