Quote from SkillfulPiranha7944 :
Why don't you just buy regular dried Chinese noodles? Asian markets will have plenty of brands and they're all cheaper than these. I used to buy a pack of 8 for $1-$1.50. Most have just flour and water, and perhaps 2 or 3 other ingredients for texture and appearance. A popular variant has shrimp eggs. And most take just 3 minutes to cook, just like instant ramen.

For example, these shrimp egg noodles. I can't believe that it's $14 on eBay. This exact brand is $1.50-$2 in NYC's Chinatown.

Or these instant egg noodles. I've bought them before and think it only has 4 ingredients (flour, water, eggs and turmeric for color). Ugh, this "value pack" is $16.99 at Walmart. I can literally find it for
The thing about Chinese foods is that you can't always trust their labeling (foods from Hong Kong and Taiwan are better). I've seen a brand with salt in the ingredients yet have 0 sodium. And I have a brand that claims 80% of the recommended sodium intake per serving but the noodles are flavorless. I've also read English instructions (and other text) that don't match the Chinese. I'm not accusing Chinese manufacturers of intentional deception but the labeling is often pretty shoddy.

For what it's worth, China is trying to crack down on this, at least for domestic products. It started with the melamine milk scandal, where babies died. The company's executives were executed as an example to other manufacturers.
