I have this hand warmer, cant say i have used it much in the last few 10 years but it works once it gets going. It's a Zippo so very easy to refill and replace parts if you ever find your self having too. What i remember having issues with is when you light it or you think you did, by the time it heats up and gets going it's been over half an hour. Fine if you are still have ignition source worse when you are at a place and you don't, and then you still have to wait another half hour for it to work again. Expect to get 10 good hours out of it when full.

Make one, use a sock, call zippo or just buy this one.

These work well. I gave one to a friend to help keep their hands warm while curling.

You can also toss these in a sleeping bag for a little cold weather boost.

The reaction is flameless. You put the heater in a little sack, which is enough to keep from burning yourself.

Likely same restriction as lighters: can be empty in checked baggage, and 1 zippo refillable or a disposable is allowed in carry-on, but I wouldn't rely on a TSA agent to know their rules. Just put it in a checked bag and fuel up when you land.

These things are meant to burn through all the fuel you add in a single use, so don't expect a single fill to last you more than half to a full day.

So once we turn it on we can't turn it off correct? Like is for an hour or 2 and then time off or can we ? Secondly what kind of fuel does it require? The description says use zippo hand warmer fuel, is that a special fuel ?

These are by far the best hand warmers as far as heat output, the 3/4 oz of lighter fluid capacity is about 1000 BTUs. The little handheld electric ones are less than 1/10 that. They put out a lot more heat than the single use packets and last all day

Does it smell like alcohol while lit? I can only really see this being useful in outdoor settings.

I have two, the small and the larger. They large runs 8-10 hours, the small one maybe 6 hours.
I have used zippo lighter fluid and zippo handwarmer fluid, I feel they are the same thing and work the same.
They have a slight lighter fluid smell, which to me, is not unpleasant.
I will say the heat, gains and diminishes multiple times over the course of use. the warmers do this using both types of fuel I tried.
overall cool item, and i like them. The teenagers in my family prefer the hothands warmers. They do not like to light the zippo warmer.

I can't compare to these fillable ones since I've never used them, but I have 4 of the zippo rechargeable hand warmers, micro usb so it charges to full power a little slowly but it's not something I use every day so that's not an issue.

In December I took all 4 on a plane, they may have been in the checked luggage I'm not sure, but I don't see why it would matter.

Once it charges all the way up it'll give you a good 8 hours. You can change the level of heat, I think 5 different levels. My wife and I used these every day while in NYC December and they're incredible. Can fit them in gloves as long as they aren't very tight, can hold in your palm and keep your hands warm. Or throw them in jeans pocket and again it helps so much. Back at the hotel just charged up overnight and ready to go next morning. There were times in past when it was very cold and we would then them all the way up but level 3 is very impressive. I think they were about $25 so not as cheap as these, just wanted to add here
