I've had this machine for 6 months now and it rocks, but the lint filter is horrible. So much lint and dog hair get into the cooling coils and inside the machine. To remedy this BEFORE YOU EVER RUN A LOAD go buy the primary filter strip kit from homeguysolutions.com or make your own watching his YouTube if you don't wanna drop $50

also I got mine scratch and dent for $1800 all in

Got this in the Costco deal about 6 months ago and absolutely love it. So so convenient, saves energy. 2'20" for a load with "extra dry" on. We have toddlers and a baby and it's so nice to throw a dirty sheet/pajamas in before heading out and coming home to them being clean. No more, "Did you remember to put the clothes in the dryer?"

I don't trust any appliance Samsung manufactures. They always come with great features, only to break down months if not after a year or 2. Not worth it, I'd stick with GE.

I spoke with a GE factory tech regarding this unit. He stated that he would not recommend anyone buy this. The tech is too new and is a nightmare to work on. Also, if one thing breaks you now have no washer OR dryer. And if it breaks, it's expensive as you need two techs to work on it and have to tear it apart due to the components.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying it, but just wanted to share my insights directly from a GE factory tech who has been trained on this machine and has seen the failures already.

Got one from costo during their black Friday sales and we love it
saves a ton of space and it's super efficient
this GE model allows you to replace the full radiator assembly from the top so down the road it should be decently easy to work on
I highly suggest taking your clothes out as soon as they finish though as they will feel slightly damp but once agitated from removal they feel dry as normal. If you let them sit for an hour or so and let the vapor cool, then they will retain more water.

We love it so far. This was also my first washer with automatic dispensing from a tank and it's super efficient and the clothes smell better than other washer and dryers I've used. Who knows if that is accurate dispensation or the fact that it instantly goes into drying after washing.

also, you may qualify for a tax credit from getting a heat pump unit in your home.

Having one doesn't do you a ton of good without the other anyways though lol
Meh, I would say having the washer is more important 99% of the time assuming you don't do laundry last minute. You can always dry the clothes on a rack or hangers.

I like the concept.
Would love the extra space in the laundry room for an additional litter box.
My biggest hesitation is that if something goes wrong you have the issue of a tech that can repair it. The other major issue is that you will likely have a very exorbitant repair. They know that if you elect not to repair one component you are stuck buying either another combo unit or (more likely) a separate washer and dryer. If space were truly the issue, I might bite. The way appliances are being made these days I like the flexibility of replacing one or the other unit.

I wouldn't trust GE either. We had a terrible experience with their appliances. They are cheap with the most basic parts, and combine parts to force you to buy expensive replacement parts.
GE has their own technicians that come out and repair unlike every other brand that outsources. That in itself is enough incentive for most to go with GE because ultimately all brands will have issues eventually.

Wife and I talked about getting one is these to replace our front loaders but I was unsure that these were too new and not ready for primetime from a reliability perspective. Another issue is that we hang dry the clothes we care about most. That kind of negates the "set it and forget it" benefit of this machine, no?

There is no evidence at all your story is true. It's easy to say "a rep said it's a too new and a nightmare to work on" Even if your anecdote is true, what value is there to a second hand telling of a random tech's opinion.

- GE's lint filter is bad. You can deal with this through maintenance and modifying the filter, but it's frustrating and unfortunate because the machine is otherwise pretty nice. Probably too late to hope for them to address existing machines but hopefully an updated model deals with this.

- "Damp dry" is the default dryness level, so you have the "humid on removal" and "shake and it's dry" thing going on. The More Dry option does work though, it adds about 20 minutes and I find it makes things come out totally dry.

- If you don't remove clothes when they are done, they will be more wrinkled than from a vented dryer due to the way heat pump works. More moisture still remains inside even with the More Dry option. Wrinkle care option solves this since it will tumble for up to 8 hours. Like More Dry, it's not a bad option to just enable for all loads.

- There is no option for dryer temperature and I've seen people call this a dealbreaker because they need low heat for some loads. The drum temperature doesn't get as hot as a vented dryer, and every load is basically done at roughly the equivalent of low heat.

- Heat pump is really efficient. The dryer system alone uses way less power than vented dryer, but you also save big on your AC/heat since a vented dryer blows a small apartment's worth of air out of your house with every load. That means outside air is coming in to replace it, making your central AC/heat work harder.

- New gasket smell lasted like a month. Worth mentioning.

- App is really lacking. Logging is minimal - only loads per day. Worst aspect is the lack of error alerts. Say a load washes fine, but unbalances once it tries to dry. The front of the machine will give you a cryptic light code indicating the problem, but for whatever reason there is no app alert that your laundry is unbalanced and is going to run for hours and never get dry if you don't address it.

- Faster than old school all-in-ones but you can't do nearly as much laundry as a washer dryer pair. For a single person up to a small family it's fine as long as you take advantage of the ability to do laundry anytime without needing to babysit and move loads (i.e., abandon "laundry day" mentality). For a large family it would be very difficult for this machine to keep up. It's weird finding reviews where people say they don't like it, and then they get to the "we have 8 kids" part. If you have 8 kids, don't get an all-in-one.

It is a good machine but weights around 300 pounds so it is so heavy, it is even hard for 2 people to move this thing, specially if you have to go upstairs

I have a dryer but rarely use it because the rack and ceiling fan extends clothing life for me

A heat pump dryer is considerably easier on fabrics. So your more delicate clothes should be fine.
