It's good for price but trust me you don't want 8gb in windows. It's simply not usable even for 5 chrome pages…
Not going to argue with you, but I disagree. Sure, 16GB would be better, but I have a Windows 10 laptop w/ 4GB & one w/ 8GB, and I can get along just fine, opening several tabs.

Perfectly fine for daily tasks even with 8GB RAM. You are not going to open 10+ 20+ chrome tabs all the time, but of coz this is kind of a user's habit.
Probably could not find a better deal at the price level for a new/cert. refurb windows laptop, especially with the USB-C charging capability. An upgrade to a larger SSD may be necessary for some users.
If this has a smaller 14" size, a no-brainer for me if I need one for kids/secondary device.

The unused tab will be swapped into SSD anyway. The high watermark on the memory somehow makes the impression of the RAM shortage, in reality, the system will not be slowed down in most of cases because NVME ssd are so fast.

Your browser might be putting the tabs to sleep (the better scenario), you might be spilling into the page file (the worse scenario, performance degradation, increased SSD wear), or it's a combination of both (the likely scenario). Even an 8GB Mac spills into swap, an 8GB Windows laptop might spill into it without even opening a browser.

Had a similar model and loved it until the hinges broke. It was pretty fast and decent for most normal users

Target has same for $199. Slightly more expensive but if you have the target card 5% CB and prefer to buy from Target then it might be worth it to you.

Case in point: Chrome on my 2007 quad core desktop with 8 GB of RAM and lots of tabs open (I figured maybe ~100), crashes often, but is otherwise ok and usable. After one recent crash where the tabs needed to be restored, History asked me if I wanted my 242 tabs restored.

Dont let the name fool you, the 7320U isnt really new, it uses the Zen 2 architecture (2019) and is only a quad core. The iGPU only has 2CU's so its barely functional and will drop frames in watching videos. Hence why this comes with the neutered Windows 11 S Mode and not full Windows.
The screen is utter garbage too, and its way heavier than it should be at 3.5lbs with a tiny 40WHr battery.

At $200 you get what you pay for. I wouldnt buy this unless you are looking for a disposable laptop for your kid to browse wikipedia, because for everything else its basically e-waste.

In for one- perfect for online classes and just browsing. I believe this would serve its purpose well for 1st year college student. You don't get much for $190 these days. The best laptop I ever had was an Acer… lasted more years than Dell or Lenovo. Just my two cents 😜

You have Windows 10. This laptop has 11. There's actually a pretty big jump in system resource usage between 10 and 11. For exactly this kind of marginal laptop, there's a big noticeable difference.

If I get this, I would install Win10 on it and make it run snappy again. 11 is a dog.

Do you have this laptop? I have one with the 2CU count, and can attest that 2CUs will NOT drop frames because video is decoded in hardware without the use of the usual shaders and such as in games. I tested it by hooking it up to a 4K60 display and playing an AV1 movie as well as 4K Youtube videos. Flawless performance, and CPU usage was minimal, too.

That said, there's cheap and then there is CHEAP. For $80ish more on ebay Acer has been selling the 7520U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 15.6" touchscreen version that is a lot more futureproof. So if you were considering this laptop, consider getting the CPU/RAM/storage/touchscreen upgraded version for $261ish after 9% refurb discount. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275923774946

Personally I'd skip even the pricier laptop, if it weren't for the good price paired with IPS touchscreen AND charging-capable USB-C port AND plentiful RAM and storage AND 10 Gbps speeds. Both have all-USB3 ports, too, so you don't need to remember or look at which port is the slow USB2 one, like with many similarly-priced laptops. That's a rare combo.

Intel 12th+ gen CPUs are way better single-threaded performance so if that's important to you, stick with Intel for this generation or so of laptops. Just my 2 cents. Also this particular Acer Aspire 3 series has cheap feeling keyboards with no backlit key option FYI.

Omg really? I have a 8gb and you know what, it's totally unusable even with 5 chrome pages. It slows pretty much down and people should notice. This can be different among people I have seen people can't feel the difference between 60hz and 120hz. Going from 8 to 12 is similar with going 60hz to 120. Quite much.
