Costco.com also has a Brother tank printer on sale for $180. Notably, that one has a scan feeder, which is why I just purchased it over this one.

Unless you do frequent printing, these things are absolute trash. The print heads will dry up quickly unless you use the printer frequently.

I don't know how it works but in 2 years of owning it I had it start to print bad once a few weeks ago and I just ran its self cleaning function, then it was back to printing great.

Purchased. Was soooo tired of theOEM ink cost on my old printer. Have to say that it did NOT like the new(ish) XB7 Comcast router I had in the house (issues with Roborock too). Swapped it out for an XB8 the next day and whamo....no issues. Prints fine and looking forward to having ink last a while!

Color laser will probably be higher purchase cost, and a larger printer, but with better performance and lower operating cost. I think for most homes, an inkjet tank printer is the way to go now.

We have both kinds. I think this is the best all around printer to have, and the color laser you really need a good reason to have it. I think the biggest benefit to the toner printer for us is it does not wet the paper. We use regular multipurpose paper though, not coated. We have to print booklets for customers and laser looks better for our purposes so we have it just for that. Everything else like invoices and receipts and general office stuff is less expensive to print with the ecotank. This thing holds a ton of ink and the refill bottles are huge. The color laser printers have a ton of parts in them. Toner cartridges, waste toner cartridges, imaging drums, belts, etc. You can try generic toner but we haven't had good luck with generic on our machine. We've had a lot of reliability problems and things like toner streaks.

Help me understand: Refilling ink cartridges has always been a hacky, messy option but a viable one. But after 2-3 refills, the print head itself usually becomes useless. Is there some new tech in the print head to make it last and not clog? I've had color laser for years but it has its limitations.

I have and love this. Bought it 2 years ago and the color is still going strong and I only just barely had to use the black ink refill that it came with. So much better than my old ink jet that had me buying a replacement cartridge every 3 months.

Our et3850 (from 2022) print colors, b&w ~1000 pages/month business usages without problems.

Loved it better than canon laser, and old canon MF color inkjet is junk compared to ecotank.

This is a popular hackable printer that home crafters use to print dye sublimation transfers (might have the terms wrong, IDK, my wife's into that stuff). So it's not that you're getting refillable ink as one of the lower cost of entry ways to get into a hobby that typically isn't open to crafters.

Spend the extra money for a laser printer. You'll think me later.

Bought two et-2750 from Sam's a few years back, both stopped printing after a couple months. Didn't print very frequently, tried to do self cleaning several times, changed the ink and it never worked right. I read online these may be best for frequent users and not the casual once or twice a month user.

Thanks for posting this. I was on the fence on getting this and was worried about the print head drying up. I don't use it very often, maybe like once a month or a couple of months. This is a no go for me.
