Important Note:

There's a slider switch on the bottom-left edge (see screenshot below) that may be set by default to toggle power-saving mode on/off when yours arrives.

Power-saving mode conserves battery when running titles that don't require much processing power, but will negatively impact performance in more demanding titles when enabled (so be sure to disable power saving mode - by using that switch - when playing 'heavier' games). [edited]

It's customizable within the settings but may be set by default to toggle power-saving mode on/off when yours arrives. This mode conserves battery when running titles that don't require much processing power, but will negatively impact performance in more demanding titles when enabled (so be sure to disable power-saving using the switch if playing 'heavier' games).

When RetroGameCorps covered this device, this ended up negatively affecting the game testing section [youtu.be] during his review (since he was unknowingly running more demanding games while power-saving mode was enabled).
RevOne, thank you for being so active and helpful in the emulation community here. I can tell you're so passionate and knowledgeable about this stuff and it's cool to have people like you. idk if Slickdeals pays you, but they should!

imo this is a great deal if you're looking for a larger vertical device. This is roughly the size of a PSP, so it's bigger than a lot of emulation systems you'll see. Great screen and good controls though. It also does PSP games well (with battery saving mode off), which makes it stand out from others in this price range.

Thanks. Bought one. In one of the other threads, it's mentioned as an alternative to an OLED one with touch screen and they mention it available for $35 on Ali express and someone stated be careful, a lot of scams and to be careful with new sellers with storefront with store1235 or some name with a bunch of numbers as the name of store. Hopefully the original poster/staff vetted the seller to be legit

How do we vet through stores? Based on comments and number sold?

If you click on seller, look for reviews on top of the page. If no reviews and the name in suspect, keep away. In this case, look for the seller "cutesliving store". A lot of reviews and the poster/staff member mentioned them

This can be purchased for even lower than advertised. I got it for $35. At that price it's a no brainer. I will use it for DS and PS1

Hi jmariano27 Smilie Thanks for being willing to help out the community. It's genuinely appreciated (and encouraged) around here.
The only thing I would politely warn about when shopping on AliExpress is to exercise caution when it comes to sellers that use the "Shop#######" naming scheme. There are exceptions to everything of course, but sometimes what happens is the seller will send a different item of lesser value other than the product they had advertised.

In the event it goes sideways, if what you purchased was an AliExpress 'Choice' offer, the parent company (AliExpress) will step in and handle the refund/return process. But - you may be talking about waiting potentially weeks for the item to get to you, discovering it was misrepresented, taking the time to file the complaint w/ AliExpress, then waiting potentially weeks as it gets shipped back. Then the time to process the returned item, and finally, the processing time to receive your refund.

In this case, that particular storefront is showing it was opened in April of 2024 and currently bears a 54.4% customer feedback rating (see screenshot below). The 'Buyer Questions & Answers' section on the product page also has a few warnings by other shoppers. Cutesliving Store, for example, is at 95.7%, open since August 2019, and currently has 108 reviews on the product page for this device. Either way, best of luck to you - I truly ~do~ hope they send the item you ordered and simply had it at a more competitive price. It can happen, it's just a bit of a gamble generally speaking. Thanks again for being willing to help Smilie I did notice that seller as well before making the thread, but (personally) didn't want to take the chance of posting it for the reasons outlined above.

That storefront could be a scam. New store and its name is Shop1103681383. You will get a refund if you get a flashlight or something but will be a lot of work on your part. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks UniqueHamster Smilie I truly appreciate that! A lot of what I've learned about this hobby has come from the community here (and on YouTube). It started for me when someone posted the RG35XX last year and I picked one up Big Grin

Are there a lot of DS games that work as non touch screen?

The only one I can think thst uses the touch screen to be playable are the Wario ware games. Most games use it for smaller play mechanics and the system used the controller as a stylus that can be moved on screen. Check the review mentioned, it shows the mechanic

I'm so interested in these little consoles but there's just no reason to buy one when I have so many unplayed games on my switch :/

PSP well? I'm sorry but this quoted remark from @RetroGameCorps on followup to their testing tells me this is not a good unit for PSP

UPDATE: it turns out that the mysterious FN button on the bottom of the device is a PowerSave toggle (and not rumble like I previously thought). Unfortunately, all of my emulation testing in this video was done with the PowerSave turned on, so the demonstrated performance is WORSE than expected. At the time of making this video I compared the performance to the RK3326 chipset (so the Anbernic RG351 series), but with PowerSave turned off it is closer to RK3566 (Anbernic RG353 and PowKiddy RGB30) in terms of performance. I redid my testing on the higher-end systems and here are the results:

- N64: mid-tier games like Super Mario 64 and F-Zero X are now playable. High-tier games like Cruis'n USA and Conker are still unplayably slow
- Dreamcast: mid-tier games like Sonic Adventure 2, Dead or Alive 2, and Crazy Taxi 2 are now playable but with the core's auto-frameskip enabled, so it's not a perfect or full-speed experience
- PSP: mid-tier games like Ridge Racer and Virtua Tennis still struggle to maintain full speed at a 1x resolution. Average frame rate is 55fps which means you'll get slowdowns and audio crackling unless you apply emulation hacks. Lite games (2D and puzzle games) still play fine
