The promotion begins on June 20, 2024 and ends on September 30, 2024 (the "Promotion Period") in the United States of America ("Qualifying Country").

Depends on if you need custom spec from Apple or retail models and how you value the free Apple GC -- not as good of a deal for expensive Macs since those come on sale with similar discounts (great deal for cheaper MBA)

That may well be your personal opinion, but I am specifically talking about the brand new M4 iPad Pros w/ OLED display. To date, the best deal on this iPad has been $944 at Amazon or $899 at Apple Edu pricing (which anyone in the US can take advantage as they don't verify status at all online). This deal nets the purchaser an additional $100 Apple Gift Card on top. So if you were buying this model anyhow, now is the time to do so.

So with that being said, YES, this is a slick deal if you are looking for one of these recently released OLED iPads. If you are not, then absolutely there are bigger savings available on one and two year models for sure. Apple and oranges here. It's like telling someone the minivan they just bought (for their own reasons, maybe got a big family lol) is a terrible deal because they can get a used convertible for less lol. Regardless of pricing, I never want a 13" iPad myself so your rationale doesn't apply. Read the post before commenting.

You can either hold on to the gift card code/PIN or you can redeem it to your Apple ID account balance. In either case, it can be used to purchase digital content (Music, Movies, Apps, ringtones, etc.), pay for Subscriptions (Monthly AppleCare+ contracts, Apple Music, Apple One, Any other service billed through your Apple ID) and lastly on physical merchandise (Either on Apple.com or in an Apple Retail Store). I got my gift card within hours of purchasing my iPad Pro this morning. You can immediately turn around and spend it on anything you wish, particularly on accessories for your new device like cases, folio covers, Apple Pencils, Chargers, etc.

The Back to School Apple Gift Card promos are usually best for newly released devices that haven't gone on sale pricing yet (or have but for small percentages) as the effective net of the purchase is lower. However, for anything that goes on sale regularly elsewhere you can typically save as much if not more net without the gift card. For example, I just ordered the new M4 iPad Pro and got the Edu pricing of $899 (Which is lower than Amazon's best pricing of $944 so far) PLUS the additional $100 Apple Gift Card.

However, a few weeks ago I purchased an M3 Pro 14" MacBook Pro from Amazon for $1699 on sale which is exactly the same price it would net to today w/ Edu pricing of $1849 plus the $150 Apple Gift Card (So in essence, I saved the same $300 on the MacBook without tying up half the savings in gift cards - Plus also got 5% cash back on my Amazon Visa).

Everyone's situation is different, but absolutely shop around you might find better pricing elsewhere (except the M4 iPad Pros lol, those just came out). That being said, this sale is on for another few months too so you have plenty of time. Just remember that if planning to purchase Apple accessories with a gift card, they WILL be full price from Apple lol. Not an issue again if buying the newly released Apple Pencil as its best price is $119 elsewhere... And of course if the gift card does nothing for you, then that could be a factor also.

Yup, this is a good deal but other deals can be had if you want to shop elsewhere. The Apple Card giving you 3% back is another reason to tack on to why shopping at Apple may be a better value for some.

If 13" is not what you want, then compare the 11" (M2 Pro) $599 vs $899 (M4 Pro) ... still 50% increase in price!

Not at all worth a shot ... Apple screwed all those who've been waiting and hoping for a steeper Back to School savings discounts!

Anyone know how in-store purchase works with Edu + trade in? Do they apply the trade-in value in the same transaction or do the trade in separately, give you a giftcard and ring up the new purchase separately?
