China x2

To clarify, china manufactured zojirushis like these are known to have significant quality issues compared to the ones that are made in Japan. Not all Zojirushis are equivalent.

Zojirushi is Japanese. Though the rice cookers are probably made in China... like everything is.
No. The good quality zojirushis are still made in Japan. Some are made in china. Which is the point of my comment.

The most advanced consumer tech products in the world are made in China. They're good at making both very nice products and making complete trash. Quality is just a matter of investment over complexity like any other manufacturer.

Please educate yourself. There is a Zoji community and it is widely known that the China zojirushis have way more quality issues than the Japan made ones.

I'm not saying all china manufactured products are bad. I'm saying Zojirushis made in china are bad.

The highest rated Zojirushi product on amazon (NS-LGC05XB) is made in China. There are some reddit and other forum posts that have users putting their Japanese made Zojirushi products on a pedestal based purely on anecdotal evidence. This widely known sentiment that Zojirushi products made in China have quality issues is either outdated or misguided. Current Zojirushi products made in China seem perfectly fine and reliable.

So is this not a good deal then? I mean I have a really crappy oster, I know zoji rice cookers are better but I hate the idea of throwing out a "functional" appliance. But I might bite at this price, would it still be in the same ballpark of the made-in-japan models?

As someone who could not care less where it's made, can someone simply tell me if this thing is good or not? Is it an SD?

An okay deal on an expensive brand but if a person cooks a lot of rice, get a real cooker for 3x the price. I've had a Chinese made fuzzy Zoji for 8+ years and no problems except that the battery finally died in it so it loses time if not plugged in. We use it for WAY more than rice. Steaming veggies, oatmeal, etc. There are many books with full meals that can be made with a couple button presses. Also, safe for kids to use with a little supervision/instruction.

edit: Oh, and a good cooker will keep rice nicely for over 24 hours! Make once a day and after dinner prepare to keep rice warm which is basically set it to "keep warm" and pile loosened rice in center of bowl. Late snack? yup all the way til kids get home from school the next day.

Appreciate the write-up. It sounds like I might be a good candidate for this one. I make rice maybe once every couple weeks. I definitely don't need top of the line. Thanks again!

I bought the https://www.kohls.com/product/prd...ance=false
with the two coupons.
It was $123 plus tax and $26 back in various rewards. The rewards don't really count because you have to use the $20 khols cash on a short timeline. Not sure on how to roll the khols cash yet. Can you just buy something and return it for store credit and the store credit slip has a longer timeline?
