It's not quite a bait and switch, but it's misleading to the point of disingenuousness. That tends make people feel like they've been tricked. I never understand why people post a deal topic that contains an immediate "Gottcha!". What are they trying to accomplish? Especially if you're posting under that a forum name that contains the word "honest". OP is practically begging for a thumbs down.
Not even saying $39.98 is a bad deal for a pair of hiking boots. But "Inov8 Men's Roclite Pro G 345 GTX Hiking Boots $39.98" would be a far more "honest" title that wouldn't make people feel like they've been lured into a "pickle".
