I built a Costco shed in 2021. Anyone considering doing this, highly recommend getting a second hand cordless framing nailer for the job. Paslodes are easy/cheap to find. Rent a roofing nailer for the day. So much faster and not a ton of money. Also remember to include caulk in your estimate unless you want bees. Some of the wood will be junk and need replacement. The delivery is to the curb, if you want it in your driveway, that needs to be arranged with the driver (I gave him $20 to drop it at the work site). I did a crushed stone bed bordered with 4x4s and that worked out really nicely, my neighbors base is all rotted but mine never gets wet.

Respectfully to those looking at lumber/plans, I think the pre cut angles in these kits are worth a lot in time and frustration if you're not cutting wood every day and able to get every cut perfect every time.
If you folks want some decent shed plans for free. The Family Handyman magazine site has a few for you to choose from. They decided to put them behind a paywall after Covid. However you can still get to them via Archive org back when they were a bit more free in their sharing.

They come with basic instructions on their site and sometimes full material lists.

My city limits to 120 square foot sheds or you need approval /permits. As a result I went with 8 x 16 gable roof (yes I know that's 128, but after accounting for walls removing floor space I could argue it's slightly under 120).

I guess it was $7.95 but thought it was well worth it

Has anyone used this for a Cabin Build on land out in the country? Seems like an affordable option.

Walls are always part of the square footage. Some even count overhangs. But most cities don't go around measuring sheds anyway unless you have a nosey neighbor calling the city on you or live in an intrusive HOA.

wow, great link!

edit: based on the comments in that link for the 12x16 shed, it looks like it costs around $2,400 to build, which makes this Costco deal look pretty good.

I think DIYing a pre cut shed is also for the handy. I hear people have trouble with Ikea...

I've been doing all of my framing that way for over 20 years. If you ever get something just a slight amount off of square it's much, much eaiser to fix if you don't have to pull nails. And the screws are stronger.</p>

64" doors will work for many mowers, but not for my 90" rig. 34' x 26' steel building with twin 16' doors on concrete slab holds it. But the price wasn't that attractive---. At the current cost of concrete the slab might cost more than that entire building.

I guess the actual rule states,

"One-story detached accessory structures not exceeding 120 square feet in floor area does not require a
permit, but must comply with all zoning ordinance requirements below."

I think since it says "120 square feet IN FLOOR AREA" that my argument would be valid.

Built this exact shed with my neighbor on his lot earlier this year. Nearly half of the longer pieces of dimensional lumber were unusable crap. A lot of cuts weren't completely square either, which added a couple of days to the build. The lead time for replacement lumber was so long that he just bought more lumber, I don't know if he ever sought out reimbursement. More than a few reviews I read afterwards had similar situations. So be prepared to either have it sit on the pallets a while of shell out your own cash for more lumber, and be ready to improvise when things don't square up because of bad/improper cuts.
