that is used for natural rubber manufacturing) which is better than some other types of cheap wood but not as good as the hardwoods like oak, hard maple, walnut, hickory, etc. Rubber wood is sturdy enough, but the grain is not very pretty, hence the walnut veneers. If I was in the market for a $700-1000 table, I'd probably jump on this.
