The HP for $630 with the 3080 a while back makes these others deals feel pretty pricey. Had to upgrade the ram and storage though.

5600x is considerably worse than an i7-12700. An i7-12700 is roughly like a 5900X in multi-thread and a 5800x3D in gaming. Also the Acer in the OP has an 800w PSU and better wifi+bt, as well as the mentioned much bigger SSD (plus a bonus HDD) and 16GB of DDR5 vs 8gb of DDR4.

All said and done, the value is roughly the same, the $640 deal was cheaper because it was worse in every way except the GPU.

lol, that machine had more VRAM (10GB) than system RAM (8GB). But great deal if you were just buying it for the parts.

That's fair, haha, but for higher res gaming, it doesn't make a huge difference in my experience.

My other machine is a 7800x3d with a 3090, and there is a gap.. but they push fairly similar frames in most games.

It means they hope you don't send it back. There are a lot of tech channels that do videos of refurbs from Ebay compared to Amazon. They both can suck but Ebay sucks more. It's anecdotal obviously...This seller for this PC is pretty respected though, but the certified is busllshit a lot of the times, in general

In this case, Acer, the manufacturer, refurbished the PC or through a third party Acer-approved vendor. This is the safest refurbishment you can get and it comes with a 2-year warranty.

From my experience, Acer Refurbs sold by Acer are easy to return.

I never buy refurbished that are done through anyone else but the manufacturer because you never know what kind of protocols they are following to refurbish the machines.
