To add to this, media has historically been filmed at 24 fps and this is what makes the mismatch between 60 hz tv and films/shows.

A TV set to 60 hz isn't a multiple of 24 so it can't just hold all the frames for an equal fixed amount of time and so some other method is needed for displaying some of the frames, like interpolation. A 120 hz tv can avoid this mismatch and just hold all the frames for a count of 5 so interpolation isn't needed. Interpolation can lead to jarring visuals for some people, but other people are fine with this. As someone else mentioned, this is an effect that soap operas make use of to affect us as we watch certain scenes.

One way to avoid this issue with 60hz TVs is to switch the picture mode to movie when watching media, which limits the display to 24 hz, and then some other picture mode when playing games or watching higher fps videos. That said, just getting a 120 hz tv means you don't have to remember or fiddle with any of this.

Soap opera effect is a result of motion interpolation, not refresh rate.

Super happy with it, bright with great colors. 60hz kills for some, but perfect for me and my non-gaming setup

I'm looking at this with the same reasoning. What plasma do you have? I have a 60" LG and it works perfectly but man is that thing a furnace.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

or, buy and come back in 3 years to tell us it broke within 1 month of the warranty expiring - or breaks multiple times before 3 years and you have a bad experience.

This seems like a great deal with 3 year warranty included. Thinking this will be a good upgrade over an old plasma tv I have since 2008

I thought you need to deal with manufacturer after 90 days?

Anywho, is it decent expectation for a qled hisense/tcl tv between 55- 60' for less than $300 by black friday this year?

the 75" version is $550 if you manage to find it. Not available around me since it sold out rather quickly. I'm watching for it and holding out. 65" is just too small for the room I'm putting it in. We tend to watch the tv in the living room from the kitchen and my recliner is kinda far away next to the window so I can drink and watch the storms roll through.
Storm watching in FL?
Pretty amazing to watch, especially with lightening.

I'd never spend more than a few hundred on a TV because I know they will probably break within a few years. I'd also avoid hisense and TCL unless paying around $100. I have read hundreds or thousands of reviews and those are brands to avoid.

I might spend $350 to $500 if I can get a 5 year warranty for under $100.

Years ago I had a supposedly good quality 65" $1,000 Sharp 120 hz tv crap out just before Discover would stop covering it for the extra year warranty. I got most of my money back and learned my lesson! It's a good thing I watched many movies on that TV, or it would have died after the extra warranty and I'd be screwed!

EDIT: It was a 65", not 60".

Also, I can repair any PC easily but for that TV, replacing the motherboard did not help. It was just completely dead. Luckily, I sold it to a guy who is very good at fixing TV's, along with the replacement motherboard and overall I made out about even, when considering what I got back for the warranty.

I've had pretty good luck with LG TV's.

Granted, LG = Lucky Goldstar and it is by no means a good brand imo, but a couple of smaller LG TV's have worked just fine for years.

Additionally, I bought a cheap Hitachi 49" TV to replace the Sharp 65" and it's been working well for about 8 years. It's "Hitachi" in name only, not made in Japan, but it has been working fine. I am aware it may share some or all parts with other cheap brands, but I have still had a good experience with it.

If you've seen this 65" in your warehouse, do you know the in-store price? (Not order online for pick up)

Got this TV last week and it is blowing me away ... especially at this price.

I have other TVs that cost 4 times as much as this.... are they better? yes... 4 times better? not even close

This TV is going to be perfect for most people....lots of people aren't looking at every pixel and analyzing them... even if they did, this TV is gonna make them get picky as i think the picture is really freaking good

Im running a Roku soundbar on this but the speakers sounded great when i tested them

user interface us smooth but a little slow... nothing that would drive you crazy

Just did a price adjustment with Costco. - at 350 this TV get two huge thumbs up from me

EDIT!i wanted to add that it's not a heavy beast like some other TV's

Would you mind sharing if this fire TV requires an amazon account, etc? I generally use a Shield TV for all my streaming and media needs and would like to keep doing so. Can I simply use this is as a dumb TV that turns on and automatically views HDMI input 1 for example? Or would you have to actively choose a source every time if you want to use something other than the Fire TV interface? Thanks.

Interesting, can you say what the other TVs you have to compare to this? RTings dropped reviews of the 2024 model on the u7 series almost instantly but still doesn't have any on this one. Regretfully I slept on costco's u75K for $679 deal, wife wanted to see in person. Finally got the her to go look in person (at best buy) and give thumbs up... and it never came back in stock at costco (only reason we're considering hisense is because of easy returns at costco and the extra warranty).

I Know the new u7N is going to be higher end than this being mini-LED but not sure that would be worth it. Don't really care about 120hz either.

Anyone know how long this price will be good? Don't see an expiration date, they usually post it if there is one.
Kind of want to wait until into next week to see if any 4th of July sales might be better in this price range.

Is it worth it to add 3 more years of coverage for $35 through Allstate?

https://www.costco.com/.product.1575678.html

Anyone had to make a claim?
