I'm using reolink doorbells for the front and back door, no monthly fees, uses ethernet cables for power (POE), bought a 4k 4 camera refurb system with dvr for $275 off ebay that's also reolink and they all work together seamlessly. I'm happy with them. Paid $70 each for the doorbells so about a $430 dollar investment for my security system.

I have a blink doorbell and it doesn't have a card slot or anything so I use their sync module with a usb thumb drive and don't have to worry about subscription. Can still see live and it saves events

If video door bell is hardwired, does the battery every need to be changed?

And how much are these AA lithium batters by the way?

Some features, like human recognition, don't work without the sub.
Yeah true. it still records all movements in the visibility area so that doesn't impact me much …

Hardwired for the doorbell only allows it to use the house ring instead of just the blink one

Wish I wouldn't have a bought my doorbell about a month ago now. Great deal!
Return it, if it's less than 30-days.

Subscription required for blink products? Can I use sd cards for local storage?
No. You can use their sync module and a SD card. Picture doesn't show the sync module, but description says its included.

If hardwired, batteries are not needed. Cheapest I've picked up LI batteries on sale was $6 for a 2 pack.

FYI Blink App is glitchy and will take longer to load if you aren't paying for the monthly service.

Blink is a waste anymore. They need to make them rechargeable with the way the price of ultimate lithium batteries went up in price. When I stocked up on them last time I paid $18 for each 24 pack which is like 75 cents each, now they are bout $2.50 a battery. Blink claims the last 2 years which is totally false. Real life usage is about 6 months. My stash of batteries are about gone, now it's time to just pitch the cameras
i use Amazon rechargeable AA batteries and they work fine. The only issue is they will say low battery even though they will work for a while still.
