Joking aside most five star reviews are incentivized and almost all other reviewers complained about broken rod during shipping, so 50/50 chances.

The capacity on the side shows it to be about a size 30 reel. That would be comically large on a 30" dock demon, but that's not to say it wouldn't work. Just wouldn't be balanced.

If you want cheap, the handing m1 500 would still be slightly heavy, but a much smaller reel for not much more money, and it has more metal and more bearings.

There's pro's that use these size reels for ice fishing with smaller rods. Mono and fluoro line forms tight memory coils from being wound around a small diameter spool. When casting, larger diameter spools allow the line to flow off more freely than that of a small diameter spool. Your casting distances will be improved. Another benefit to a slightly larger reel/ spool is that it will pick up line faster. So I say go ahead. Try it. It won't look ridiculous. Anyways, who really cares. See how it balances for you before installing line though. I'm guessing it'll be good enough.
