Folding phones have the lowest residual value. Someone posted some research on Reddit about this. They lose like 50% in the first year.

These preorder promotions get worse and worse every year. Then they ask themselves why they are losing market share. They dont even give charging bricks anymore. The boxes are barely thicker than the phones themselve because they don't include anything besides a 3 ft cable. In the past they would give free wireless chargers, Headphones, cases.

I presume no foldable being announced there but Google just announced a Pixel hardware event for August 13th with possible (likely?) announcement of the P9 series if you're looking for a new phone but not sure yet what to get.

"save up to $1500" is interesting. $1500 trade-in credit for a Fold 5 (meaning they have zero faith in the launch) or are they bringing back multi-device trading?

OnePlus gave me nearly $1200 for a used fold 5 that I'd voluntarily took the inner screen protector off. I feel like I stole something. Such an upgrade. I liked the fold 4 and fold 5 but Samsung should really be about 2-3 gens beyond where they are now. Fold 6 isn't even keeping pace with Chinese foldables 1 and 2 gens old. Even Google looks to leapfrog Samsung this year. I like that they're finally making it somewhat less chunky and making the outer screen LOOK less prototype-esque (the bezels really should've been way smaller to start) but I doubt the form factor will be as much to my liking as the OnePlus, and the cameras and speakers need big upgrades to compete. Almost 0 percent chance on the former and I'm seriously doubtful on the latter given the s24 lineup's lack of improvement over the s23s in that regard

It's going to be wider, but shorter in height. So it will essentially have the same screen size (both front and foldable), but a different aspect ratio. So I guess that's somewhat of an improvement, because the current narrow front screen isn't all that usable.
